What's the pro/con of each class?

 

For a poor man starting the game recently, which class is easier to gear up?

 

For MVPing, which class is easier and cheaper?

 

I'm quite indecisive on this one, looking for any suggestions ^^

Ranger is easier, cheeper and for farming even some weak mvp its better.
This is just my opinion

Ranger is by far cheaper to gear: White Wing set +hunter bow bow for super cheap, elven bow for a little more power at a cost.

white wing set costs about 20m or you can do the quests and earn them easily. hunter bow is 6m, elven bow is 30m

 

but as far as survival for mvping, sorc wins due to shield + garment.

for a sorc to be a good killer they need a lot of expensive gear from what I have read.

definitely ranger. sorc costs billions to play whereas you can just throw a white wing set and hunter/elven bow on a ranger and be good

I think everyone should start as a ranger, mainly to farm easily for money and stuff. I hope it will surely help me level up my future Knight by buying me pot and gear.

RWC pendants - 99m x2 + millions in resets 

or

telekinetic orb 1.2m for the poor =p

 

and then the infinite amounts of elemental stones youll need for pets

 

of course this is all optional. you can choose to be slow and weak and still level to 150. but thats a pretty crummy way to play imo. without the cast reduction gear, solo leveling is a complete nightmare. you take so much damage that you constantly run out of healing items or have to rely on slowly healing yourself to full with a heal clip (lol).

 

Sorc is hands down the most expensive class in the game to get to a reasonable play level

Don't play sorc unless you're either obscenely rich, or going hindsight route.  Hindsight still requires several hundred millions in zeny, just not billions.

 

I tried it myself and was absolutely 100% completely useless outside of being a simple SP battery.  And you don't want to merely be an SP battery to max level.  It sucks.

Sorcs are easy to solo if you can make a Kaahi Soul Linker on another account and marry it (or make two linkers). You can't do this within a TI map and would have to go to a *gasp* real map.

if i have a billion zeny to spend on sorc gear, i can use that same billion zeny on ranger gears for even more awesomeness.

Ranger>sorc in all aspect unless i like being someone's sp bit*h

Sorc is so much more fun, personally. I like having a whole array of AoEs, and at least one of which will ALWAYS be up, so you always have an attack ready to cast. And you've got protection spells against literally all types of damage (ranged, melee, single target magic, ground magic).

Ranger can do more damage in a single hit much easier. But that's really all you're gonna have.

Getting the refine rate on them are entirely dependent on how much money you're willing to spend to upgrade em

If they're both +10, thats like a minimum of 20% cast reduction. Throw spell4/4 on the tsod and thats 40%

 

Get a stringer, you have almost 100% variable cast reduction. 

 

Max your int for higher dmg (cause sorcs work with total int as a modifier, not so much matk)

 

RWC pendants are less than 100 mil, but if you get 2x spell 3/3s thats 32% more reduction. 72 % with just accessories and weapon upper headgear.

 

 

 

As compared to a ranger, the "best" weapon is 500m starting, and not even upgraded. im talkin about a Big cross bow. 

 

I'd spend about the same gearing both chars.

but a hunter bow+hunting arrow can already do better damage than those billion zeny gears for sorc..... for a new player, u just cant afford those gears

Well when i say that the ranger is cheaper im talking abouth elven bow(+7-+9), white wing set without high refinement or enchants and you still can do a lot of damage, a phen card and a ridewor hat for sp and it will take 250m or less, of course if you want a bxb+15 with thanatos card and ea2, white wing suit +14 ea7 and s**t like that every class you play will be expensive.
Ranger is easier, cheaper and faster than a sorc if you dont have a lot of zeny, but maybe a sorc can be funnier i recomend you to make a ranger first and make money with it then you can choose another class you want.

pretty much. you cant do -_- in ti cuz everyone casts faster than you, you cant solo for -_- cuz by the time your casts get off, youve used up half your healing items. you cant do -_- in ET. you cant even mvp. sorcs are pretty garbo without heavy zeny investment. i wish someone had warned me back when i was poor and started a sorc. it was such a miserable experience that i ended up just giving up on it cuz it wasnt worth the hastle

to sum it up, there is no cheaper and more efficient class than ranger, if that is what you are looking for.

 

I totally missed the part about mvp.

 

u can solo lower tier mvp on a ranger with just elven bow, ww set and +20 agi food(120 agi autowarg build).

 

as for sorcerer..... u are better off spending 100mil worth of sp equips and be someone's sp bitch, than getting multi-billion zeny worth of equips, 10 hours and 234232 potion to solo one mvp.

Sorcs are definitely heavy on the cost of gear but its only gears to reduce cast time (aka insta casts gears)z You can still get okay cast with high dex and ventus and there are some good cheap alternative weapons to use for higher DMG output.

The beginning levels are brutal tho but t's a really fun class to level if you have a levelling partner :3

Sorcs are great in mid ti. You can solo most of it with the right set up or go in a small party with tank/ab.

High ti turns you into an sp slave but its fairly easy to get a party and alternatively you could also level elsewhere with safety wall and energy coat while rotating spells at scarabs and around new world.

I solo'd a sorc to 150 back in the day when skull caps first came out. There were basically NO +10-12 thorn staffs, and FAW/HBP/RWC pendants didn't exist. Basically used the setup above (skull cap instead of CoD), and it worked just fine.

Why use Orlean's on Sorc if you can instacast anything anyway?

@thatfool Yeap I agree Sorc could be the most expensive class but I'm just pointing where he overexeggerate stuff  . Plus you could share all those gear with other class so it's not a total zeny spend only on Sorc unlike that BxB.
