All of these are lovely... But it would be nice to see new pieces, than use ones over and over again like some of these

^ I kind of have to agree.. :\ It's not fair when artists wants come up with a new piece but wouldn't make it in time due to the limited slots being filled up by old arts from others, also people who just use commissioned art and not mention it.. >.<

You can get a good flatbed scanner at about $60 - $100. I recommend getting a Canon; the one I have has served me well for about a decade. Just take really good care of it when using and storing it away.
When looking for a scanner, think about the typical paper size you use for your art. My scanner has a 12x14 scan area, which is fine if all you're drawing on is 8.5x11 printer paper. (I'm looking into buying a bigger once since I draw on bigger paper nowadays.) Look for something with huge DPI (like 4800 or higher). The bigger the DPI, the better quality the scan.

Hi Cein, I think what Fier means about posting commissioned art is that if it is commissioned, it should be stated somewhere that it was drawn by someone else instead of just posting it and not crediting the original artist. hence the "who just use commissioned art and not mention it.. >.<" and I'm sure she wasn't really directing her comment at you or anything since you do have permission and whatnot

>.< My post isn't directed at you on an isolated case. I was just seeing how a few of us artist who wants to work up a new piece had to rush to try and make it in, and there's artists that felt they may not make it in unless they use an already made old art. And not every artist really like doing that. I am not opposed to commissioned art being posted either, but I think it should be mentioned clearly and credit the artist. This is also to prevent art thieves using someone's art without permission.
I was reluctant to make this post earlier until Rodezja voiced out, as I did notice a few of us having to rush our arts to make it in, worried of the limited slots and all. Not to step on any toes as well. I have been trying to figure out a win win solution for everyone and propose it to Oda too but haven't quite thought of anything. I guess unless it's a situation where he opens up more slots, or decide on who gets priority that is fair for all. I also know Valentines Day tends to be one of the most popular! Base on last year there was an overflow to having to do 2 separate sets.

It's not like Valentine's Day is on a different date every year so you don't know when to submit. You technically have a year to draw for it ?_? you don't need the thread creation's permission.
