Beastmaster PVE build after AoV
Posted 02 March 2014 - 07:28 PM
My build for Master Levels is:
10/10 Cruel Bite
10/10 Fury Strike
6/6 Beast Tornado
10/10 Wild Crush
5/5 Brutal Strike
1 in Rage Smash, Beast Roar, Bear Form, Survival, Tiger Form, Feral Defense as Pre-requisites
0 in Frenzy, Beast Charge, Wild Impact, Ymir Form, Bear Carnival
Pretty straightforward here, in PVE you can just main Grizzly Form. Not much to say since the game is broken, everything is super easy. Others may suggest maining Bear Form because you're nearly invincible either way, but I'm assuming in the long run the game will be fixed. Grizzly makes soloing/dungeon-ing easier in my opinion, but again, it doesn't quite matter.
Maxing out all AOE attack options because we're one of those classes that can do insane AOE grinding.
With extra points that can be purchased after Master Levels, I would max Bear Form for hybrid (makes killing stuff slightly faster), then Wild Impact for utility. At least, those are my intentions (but I'm too lazy to farm points).
If you need a build for before Master Levels, let me know what the skill caps are.
As for stats, I have always said they have had extremely minimal impact, but I think standard for everyone would be to max AGI for the extra hit rate. I'm different and I just max VIT because I have an obsession with getting high HP (it really isn't necessary at all). STR in the current damage formula doesn't do much, so I wouldn't invest in it.

Yes it's perfectly fine. Only comment is that Survival has been rendered obsolete and I wouldn't invest in it because it only heals 20% every 40s whereas Cruel Bite at 10/10 heals 30% of your max hp each time and if necessary Explorer Reds also heal 30%. Typically for healing, I would use Fury Strike to instantly gain 30 beast points (as long as there are 3 enemies), and then use Cruel Bite. If something is dealing you damage quicker than that, it means you should probably switch to Grizzly form.
I can only speculate Survival would be useful in PVP when Cruel Bite would miss a lot and can't be relied on for healing. But that's by fault of the broken hit/dodge system anyways.

Yeah survival only really comes into its own at the minute in pvp, especially if you happen to get trapped. it can be difficult to build beast power to use cruel bite during pvp with the current hit/dodge and even if u do manage to, there is always the chance it will miss. It can be useful though if you have time to invest in redseed flame runes in order to bring the cooldown time down.

I don't think I've seen any full DPS/PvP BMs recently, especially because of the absurdly high defense and HP that come with Grizzly form.
Here's my current build which is short 5 skill points that I'm too lazy to get:
These are the skills I currently have for DPS/PvP. Currently, PvE is pretty much just farming and most other BMs I've seen just spam beast tornado, but that's not much fun. IMO, despite hitting fewer targets, fury and brutal strike are much better for farming because of the high damage and ability to heal using cruel bite in between the two multi target skills. Using frenzy as well lets you spam cruel bite for stun/BS reset procs which just decimates mobs in FF and Dayr desert. If you want to go pure PvE, you could get rid of the stuns and max out survival for helping out your party in the (hopefully) challenging raid we should be expecting in a month(?) or so.
Of course DPS BMs are the best because of one key trait. DPS BMs can join the same party as tank BMs because we excel the most at both roles(currently) and the different form procs which bring more to the table than just one buff that you'd get from having a dps and tank of any other tank class ^~^

I would just add that Beast Tornado can still be used in your PVP skill rotation because it has a slightly higher reach for hitting pesky runners. It also strikes 3 times per mob/person so hopefully at least one of those hits land I definitely used it during my pre-AoV PVP days and although I've only gone to around 5 Colosseums since AoV, I still find myself using it to chase people. 6/6 is preferred for me since it'll hit 10 targets, but in PVP you only need to hit maybe 5 at a time at most, so I think that's a 4 point investment or so if I recall correctly. But from 1-3/6 it still hits 3 targets and that suffices most of the time.
