We will be gathering the nominations for the Beastmaster Volunteer Class Representative here.

Top 3 Reasons for Self Nomination:

 

-Experience playing a BM from NA opening and on SEA server

 

-Lots of experience in colo and in raids from before AoV patch

 

-Experience organizing full BM raids along with connections in the small community of endgame BMs before AoV.

 

Future hopes for the BM class: Lots of hit rate and decent SP consumption.

  • i am easily approachable. (I don;t bite.... much)

What future do you want for your class: i would like to see BMs filling a unique and valuable role within a party/raid/PvP

I suppose I should be involved since I main my Beastmaster. I want to ask the candidates a bit more, since the application form are a bit bare (bear. teehee).

What do you each believe the most pressing issues for BM are (ie, our top priorities)?

Maybe just address one or two and add a bit of discussion so I can get a sense of how you would process and explain priority issues/suggestions/bugs/etc. to the CMs in this role.

Of course, no obligation to do so if you do not wish to. Thanks :)

The main issue at minute in terms of balancing is our high defense. With our current class bonus of 1vit = 2 def it is entirely possible for us to have in excess of 80% def rate when in grizzly form. This combined with our high hp pool and self heals can make us very difficult to kill in both PvE and PvP (providing cruel bite can actually hit the opponent but that is a separate and server wide issue). Suggestions have already been made among the community to changes in our class bonus but more discussion is needed on the change and the implications it will have on our class and the community as a whole.

 

Suggestions

 

The use of Ymir form should be made available in grizzly form, if this isn't possible, bear carnival should be unlinked so that beastmasters that prefer to use grizzly form have access to the ability. (moderate priority)

 

A number of the beastmaster community would like to see some costume customization options to the grizzly form. (low priority)

Pretty much what scribble said. The only thing I'd add is SP consumption for single target damage builds and don't say to bring pots because I ran out of explorer blues a long time ago, which is sad considering how I still have hundreds of explorer reds from the letters event.

 

The defense and hp is currently unnecessary in PvE and useless in PvP where AGI stacking is really the only way to go unless you want a hit rate of .01%. Alternatives for the 1 VIT = 2 DEF boost would be 1 VIT= 21~22 HP to keep with the 2:3 ratio that most classes have with their boosts. As the only tank that requires hit rate to survive though, a hit rate boost could also be considered but that's not nearly as big a problem now as it was pre-AoV in terms of PvE.

 

The only point where I don't agree with scribble is the frenzy effect not applying to fury strike. It would be great to have, but it's not really necessary because of fury strike generating BP for each mob hit. In single target battles it adds a dynamic where you'd switch back to the old pre-AoV rotation for BP generation despite the lower damage from not using fury strike. If this were any other game I would have imagined that it was intended, but it probably is a bug that has to do with fury strike being the only skill that always gives the same amount of BP.

 

Edit: In case this might end up starting any sort of debate I'd like to clarify that three of my top four choices for BM VCR are already candidates, and I"m sure any other BM would agree with me here. (Unlike in some other VCR threads)  :heh:

If our class bonus was changed to hit rate what stat would u assign it to? agi or vit?

 

Personally id go with 1 agi= 3 hit instead of adding it to vit  as it needs to keep the balance between both forms.

As a dps bear your more likely to stack points in agility, with the increased hit in agi there would be an increased chance of cruel bit landing thus increasing the survivabilty of dps form.

However if you main Grizzly form you have increased HP and defence so don't need quite as much survivability in terms of cruel bite hitting. if it was tied to vit (most Grizzly form users tend to stack point in vit) it would cause more problems in balance between classes with the higher self heal rate.

This way i think it would make both forms more well rounded.

 

Hmm yeah i suppose that could be true of frenzy. Iit would have to be confirmed if it was "working as intended" (god i hate those words haha)

also agree with you on the canditates.

TBH, once they fix the hit/dodge formulas, the best thing would just be extra HP per VIT because of Grizzly's high modifier and the % heals that survival and cruel bite have. After that, cruel bite should be lowered to only 15~20% heal but with an increased hit rate like furnunculus.

Perfect, I think the most important quality for VCR is just being able to articulate your ideas and that's what I wanted to see from our candidates here. Funny how bears can speak human so well now, we're evolving! :P. It's also nice to see that you two have different perspectives in some regards, which is good for discussion purposes as well.

I'll leave the debates for the BM balance threads, but to comment on the hp issue, as much as it pains me to pass up more HP <3, I'd say maybe instead of looking at buffing our hp modifier, its an issue of bringing down everyone's so mob attacks can actually deal significant enough damage (speaking in terms of raiding). Of course, loss averse people might rage for a bit, but then it'll settle down (we control the pitchfork supplies).
