Rue’s POV

The moon was shining through in a light that dappled the forest. Normally, the woods would be silent but my deep breaths and quick feet rustled deep within.

 

I flew past the beautiful scenery and behind was a King Poring chasing after me. Earlier, I accidentally hit the poring while I was playing around with my stick. Eventually the angry monster closed in when I tripped upon the roots of the trees.  I tried to stand but I fell as the pain shot up my leg.

 

My eyes drifted to close.

 

I heard the poring squeal in pain. I opened my eyes and saw the poring break into little jellopies but I was more focused on the boy standing before me. At first he had his back turned on me but then he turned his head and I saw his bright red eyes. The boy came closer to me.

 

 

 

 

“Are you alright?”

 

His voice sounded gentle and it soothed my ears. Instead of answering, I let myself fall asleep as exhaustion took over me.

“Oh. You’re awake.”

 

I looked up to the boy who saved me. I saw that he is about my age but he had white hair like mine. I tried to memorize his features.

 

“Thank you… for saving me. Um, where am I?”

 

He began to walk out of the room. “You’re in the nearest village I could find and you seem to belong here. I treated your ankle but you might want that looked up. Take care.”

 

I tried to reach out to him. “Wait!” I stood up without thinking and stepped with the foot with broken ankle. I staggered but the boy caught me in time and set me to the bed.

 

“Be careful.” He said and started to turn away.

 

Before he could do so, I held onto his arm. “Who are you? Where are you from? I have not seen you around here before.”

 

He took my hand off his arm slowly. “It’s best for you not to know.”

 

I gazed on his eyes once more, taking it all in. I noticed that I was holding my breath. He closed his eyes and smiled then went out the door.

 

When I caught my breath again, I seek to find any paper and pencil and when I did, I did my best to put everything I could remember about the boy. I finished the sketch and gawked at it. I hugged it and swore to myself that I would meet him somehow.

 

 

 

 

Years later, I became a knight in Prontera. We we’re dispatched to the Garden of Yggdrasil to go against the Freyjans. Apparently, the enemies we’re scouting by the hill when our troops assaulted them.

 

“Take this!” Our leader yelled as he swung his sword onto the enemy then charged and turned to another.

 

“Retreat…!” The Freyjan leader shouted and they retreated, leaving everyone to rejoice and fist bump with each other.

 

“That didn’t take too long.” I thought when we headed back to the headquarters.

 

On my way back, I saw someone dragging himself by the whispering tree. I ran to him and saw a wounded Freyjan. As soon as he saw me, he started to run.

 

“Stop! Don’t run away.”

 

He was already weak but his blue eyes we’re darting, still trying to find a way to escape.

 

“Look here, I won’t hurt you.” I softly told him.

 

“Leave me alone.” He glared at me.

 

“Come on, let me heal you. You know you can’t run away, not in your condition.”

 

He curled up in pain. I came closer to him. When he did not say anything, I started treating his wounds. He’d grimaced in pain every now and then.

 

I made him sit up. I managed to get a look at him. He had midnight blue hair and blue eyes. He seemed deep in thought. I felt I had to break the silence.

 

“What’s your name?” I asked. He blinked.

 

“Shouldn’t I be asking you that? Ah. You did save me.” I narrowed my eyes.

 

“My name is Rue of the Sakura, Knight of Prontera. Now that I’ve introduced myself, do you mind telling me who you are?”

 

“The name is… Axl.”

 

“That’s a beautiful name.”

 

I saw him frowned at that. He turned to look at our surroundings.

 

 

 

 

“This is such a beautiful place.” He sighed.

 

“Yeah…”

 

It was beautiful indeed. The Garden the Yggdrasil is one of the most majestic places I’ve ever been to. I glanced at him and saw that he was looking at me. I couldn’t make myself turn away. Something about the way he looks at me seemed familiar. Finally he broke the gaze. I decided to tend to his wounds.

 

After treating Axl, I took him back to the headquarters so they could get information from him. The guards had him locked up. Before turning in for the day, I thought I’d check on him. I felt the wind move fearing the worst and I found out that he had indeed escaped. Now we’re back to no leads. I’m no longer sure of this war.

It’s been weeks since Axl escaped the H.Q.

 

It was early morning when the horns blazed and men we’re shouting. I just got up from my sleep and other soldiers we’re awakened by the noise. I was about head outside the tent when a fellow soldier came in.

 

“What is it?” I asked. The soldier was panting.

 

“The Freyjans are attacking! Report to the Commander immediately!” The soldier saluted and left.

 

Everyone scrambled up to prepare themselves and rushed out the field to their respective units. My unit was assigned to stay at the headquarters and be on a look out. I sighed as I stood guarded at the front gate. I hate missing the action. I wanted to fight.

 

Minutes later we heard incoming people.

 

“We need medical help!” We saw the injured soldiers heading our way. We had them taken to our medical tents to be treated.

 

“Thank you. But there are more injured back there.” I got up and ran outside. I don’t want to sit back while people are getting injured.

 

“Rue, where are you going?” One of the guards yelled. I looked over my shoulder.

 

“To help!” I ran towards the sound of the fighting.

 

I looked onwards while heading down the road but stopped to see creatures with white hair and red eyes. Just like that boy from years ago! They had black appendages springing from their backs. They took our soldiers down without much effort.

 

 

 

 

I was too distracted by them that I failed to notice one Freyjan attacking me. He hit me quite hard in the gut, taking me back. I drew my sword against him. But he was too swift. He connected another blow to my chin and I felt the pain surge over my body. It sent me a few distance and I struggled to stand my ground. I saw the Freyjan walking up to me but the strength in my body left me and I felt useless as I await my demise. I closed my eyes and braced myself – but no attack came. With the last amount of consciousness I had in me, I tried to open my eyes. Last thing I saw was a fireball out of nowhere, hitting the Freyjan and sending him down to the ground. I felt myself wince and darkness took over.

Axl’s POV

 

What have I done? No – I wasn’t thinking at all! But I had to save her, that girl who gave me another chance at life. She reminded me of the silver-haired girl I met years ago. They even have the same eyes.

 

I can’t explain why I can’t get her off my head. All I can do was follow her around after my escape. I came to know of her, who she was and what was she doing here, fighting us. Amongst all the soldiers I’ve fought, I’ve never seen a girl so beautiful.

 

When I saw her fell down, I couldn’t understand the rage I felt! How dare he lay a hand on her! The fire in me burned to save her! But now that I’ve calmed down – it frightens me. This… feeling. I don’t understand why I want her to be safe.

 

 

 

 

I kneel down beside Rue and carried her. When I arrived in our hideout along with the other freyjans, they took and put her in the prison.

 

 

 

 

My fellow freyjans saw what I did and told the elder about it. Of course, the Elder was furious at my actions. I asked for a chance to redeem myself, however, I did not expect for him to command me to kill Rue. There was no choice but to heed by his orders.

 

I came inside her prison and watched her as she slept peacefully. Killing her doesn’t even cross my mind. I only want to protect her. Why do you make me feel this way Rue? Why do I care for you? I linger upon these questions until she slowly woke up.

Rue’s POV

 

 

 

 

I feel a bit lightheaded when I woke up. What happened again? Oh. I was knocked down during the battle. But... Where am I? The place was dark and the floor was glowing with an peculiar circle pattern I do not recognize. But more than that, I see someone.

 

“Rue…” He spoke softly.

 

I recognized the voice. “Axl? Where am I? Did you take me here?”

 

“Yes. I brought you here in our hideout when I found you unconscious back there.”

 

I suddenly remember someone attacking my foe earlier. “You saved me, didn’t you?” I slowly stood up.

 

He looked away. “It’s because of that that I’m here to kill you. My Elder seeks proof of my loyalty to him.”

 

“Then why aren't you doing it now?”

 

“I… can’t.” His voice timid.

 

He looked into my confused eyes for a moment, and then came close to take my face in his hands and closed his eyes. I didn’t know what to do. I didn’t know what he wanted or what he was doing so I stood still. I was not dumb, I knew there were men who won’t wait but I knew he wouldn't do that to me. I had no reason to fear him, I trusted him. He’s just mysterious in any way that I just don’t understand yet.

 

“You remind me so much of her, Rue. Maybe that’s why I couldn’t hurt you. Years ago, I met someone in the forest. She had silver hair and red eyes just like yours. She was the first girl I have met and she made quite an impression on me. But I had to stay away from her… Because I'm a freyjan, an enemy to all.”

 

I felt my eyes widen as I start to realize what he’s saying.

 

“And then I met you…” He opened his eyes and looked at me. “You made me feel the same way as she did and now I can’t stop thinking about you. If I forget who I was for a second, I could just take you away with me… ” He moved his hands away from my face and stepped back. His expression pained.

 

It felt sorry to see him this way. But at this time, it was clear that we were enemies. I am just as perplexed as he was. He could just end me and save himself, but he also fell for me and that meant going against his people. I could also just kill him but I’m also having the same problem as he was.

 

 

 

 

Before I could speak, he jumped into the air and transformed. I was shocked with what I saw. He was indeed the boy I saw back then, his white hair glowed and his red eyes shone in the dark place.

 

“I’m a monster…” He turned away.

 

I turned him back to me. “No… You’re not.” I quickly reached for the sketch in my pocket. I always brought it with me. It was a vow I didn’t want to break and all this time, I’ve been waiting for this moment.

 

“Look. It’s you. I did this because I swore to myself I’d meet you someday no matter what. Axl… I… I’m the girl you met.

 

His fingers traced over the sketch while tears formed in my eyes. “You… All this time…”

 

“Axl I…” I closed my eyes and shook and lower my head. “I don’t know how to… start…”

 

He came closer silently, his transformation gone. When I looked up I was surprised as how close he was. But before I could realize what was happening, he pulled me close and our lips met. I felt the kiss brought us both to life; with all the differences and uncertainty disappearing.

 

 

 

 

With a struggle, we parted, as if a magnet was being pulled from a metal, and we stared at each other. He held me close once more. “Start… at the beginning.”

 

“Yes…” I nodded.

 

He listened to me intently of how he saved me and that I never forgot him, how I became a knight, then ended my story at the time we met. He kept his hold tightly on me, never letting go. I rested on him when I finished.

 

After that he took me to another dimension, and this was the only way we could be together, I had to become like him. I looked back one last time, not sure of what I was trying to find. Then I felt his hand in mine, and I knew it doesn’t matter anymore. Nothing else matter now that we have each other, finally having what we searched for all this time.

title: The Noels

During the aftermath of the war the elves had lost their way of life. The Elves began to disappear and changed forms, by absorbing the demon spells left behind during the war. The elves began to change. The transformation began slowly and painfully, with agony of growing wings and tails, losing what beauty they once had as elves. At the end stages horns began to appear from their heads, the symbol of demons. With these transformations the elves died out but a new race called Noels began. The Noel Race was saved from turning into demons by absorbing the infinite magic from Ymir.  This had prevent the noels from transforming into demons, with the help of Ymir contain pure infinite spells the noels stopped transforming and turned their appearance back to that of a child to reduce the need to consume more spells.

 

 

The Once Proud Elves who fought and defeated Freyja are now Noels, living peacefully in the world of Rune-Midgarts, living with the piece of Ymir in Yggrdassil Garden, in a small town Elenas.  The Noels had gained a way of life which was not feasible before. During the aftermath of the battle, consuming demon spells in order to survive. The Ymir is protecting them from awaking into demons. There were two Noels that had absorbed the most demon spells allowing them to Awake. Transforming them into demons they had abnormal power, which made them be feared among their race.

 

There were two major transformations, during the awake stage. Causes of these two types of transformation for the two types of Noels, there were given two types of names. Darkness for Crecenita, SoulMate for SoulMaker. These forms provided the Noels with extra power which could only be used during these short transformations. Allowing them to use powerful spells absorbed during the aftermath of the battle.

 

 

The Noels were hidden from the Norman race. They had excluded themselves after the battle with Freyja. Staying hidden being unknown to the rest of Rune Midgrats, the pain which they have felt from absorbing the demon spells, transforming them. The Noels had lived peacefully isolated in Yggdrasil Garden, since the battle. The only new threat which happened to them since was when the Freyjans attacked the village of Elenas. The Freyjans attacked to destroy the piece of Ymir. In order to make sure that the Noels will complete their transformation to demons and bring havoc to Rune Midgrats. The Noels have fought off the Freyjans, and having stopped there attack the Noels where at peace, as the piece of Ymir was safeguarded.

 

 

The Story of Noels in Rune-Midgrats began when a wounded traveller showed up in Elenas, and the Noels were then known to the rest of Rune-Midgrats, and there travels in the world began…

She had to leave this place, before boarding, she asked:
"You'll wait for me, right?"
He did not answer, just nodded. She smiled.

Satan woke up, Midgard was in flames.
Because of his mission, and the girl in past, he determined to seal Satan.
Satan weakened.
But if he waited for reinforcements, Satan would timely recover, and can't be sealed.
With the last breath, he used Berserk skill.
As soon as Satan was sealed, he fell down dead.
A sunny smile, the question of waiting for a girl appeared in a moment.
He closed eyes, and his body dissolves into the desert wind.

A long period without his news, she worried, feared and tried to complete the training quickly in order to return.
Reverting.
He was not there.
She asked, everyone said that he had left with another girl.
She startled, astonished and was shocked. She couln't believe it.
She was silent, back to the place they were together. Day by day, she watched the sunrise, and the sunset until the night fell.
She was looking for him.


...All the cities were notched her footprints.
All the caves were lingered the traces of her blood.
It was just no signal about him.
But she was not desperate.
She went to Umbala, journeyed through the road linking Rune-Midgard with Niflheim - Yggdrasil Tree.

She met him, he smiled.
She also smiled.
She used what she had learned during the time away, opened the portal to take him out of Niffheim.
Breaking the law, she was not afraid.

However, he was not in the flesh.
He could only look at her, but could not touch.
She could also look at him, and could not touch him.
She used the banned spell, sacrificially risked her life.
Redemptio.
His body was vanished, the banned spell also could not revive him.
The spell failed, she was not injured
She frowned, he still smiled, pat her head slightly, even it was just cursory.


...
They did not escape for long.
The soldiers of Valkyrie arrived.
She fought, but she knew she could not protect his spirit any longer.
She fled.
He shook his head.

She took him to see Valkyrie.
He could be rebirth for so long, but he did not want to forget her, he was still waiting for her.
So, he stayed in Niffheim, just to keep intact the memories of her. He stepped into the swirling light.
Silently, she watched him merged into halo.
He was gone.
Suddenly, she jumped into that dazzling spiral.
Despite struggles in this life, these achievements, and the efforts now can be rewarded.
She doesn't care.
She just wants so see him.

He broke into the palace, suddenly caught a little girl .. picking flowers.
He came closer, and asked: "Hey kid, wanna follow me?"
A sunny smile.
She nodded.

Foolishness

 

When I was younger everyday I used to frolic towards the forest after I had eaten. At ten years of age there was no adherence to danger and no need to be scared because there was pretence of adventure and discovery. With me was my best friend, Metna, a scrawny Norman who, at eleven, boasted that he had perfected the sword and was on his way to conquer monsters. I laughed at that, because I never fathomed a child who still needed his mum to wipe his nose could have even held a sword, let alone perfect it. The ten year old self I was amused him and agreed, so we would duel each other with sticks and throw rocks as if they were bombs that incapacitated our limbs.

 

That day was like any other day; it was summer and sweat trickled down our small foreheads, we each had a sturdy stick in one hand and the other holding our leather pouches tight as we hiked through the dense woods. Metna and I were laughing and chittering away when we heard shouts from afar. We had not known it then, but the absence of our fathers had not been a coincidence. Out of our bubble of happiness and far from our small village in Mt. Mjolnir; a war had been waging against Freyja and her twelve Valkyries. It had been those who inhabited Midgard fighting against terrifying demons that threatened to obliterate the world. We hid as the roars of battle approached, I was squinting and viewing the scene through the slits of my eyes but Metna watched in fascination. He barely blinked as the warrior stabbed the demon through the chest and tore the great sword upwards, splattering black sludge all over the trees and ground. I forget what had happened afterwards, but from then I felt like Metna found his purpose in life, as I was cowering and frightened in the background, a spark lit up in his eyes.

 

More than half a decade later we were able to conscript into the army even though Freyja had no longer been a threat to Midgard. As best friends he also persuaded me to join but I knew I was no good with the sword. He, on the other hand, fulfilled what he had promised himself and went on to become a knight. I took on archery and for some years we went our separate ways, I mastered agility and precision and he, well, he became the general of one of the leading armies. When I saw him again, he was an accomplished man; almost nothing of the boy I once knew was seen in him. However, we were happy and we drank and sang as adult versions of our young selves. I became his second in command, I was 25, Metna was 26.

 

There was one incident where we had to fight apostles and some of our men were captured in the process. Metna lead a small group of troops into the fortress of Sandarman in order to retrieve the soldiers who were taken. As we trudged through the sand and arrived at the stone steps we were ambushed and our priests perished, our potions were low in supply and our troops’ stamina diminished greatly. We were in frantic search of our comrades in order to leave as soon as possible but Metna disagreed. He wanted to slay the daemon that inhabited the fortress but at the cost of the lives of our soldiers. He said that the captured ones will know that we have come to retrieve them and that they will fight free. At that time, I believed that he was right. Therefore, Metna and I charged forward, bloody and tattered by the time we reached the end and even then the fight was so close that we would have died multiple times if not for the potions he gathered from our troops. We felt victorious, but for me that was short lived. As we ventured backwards all our allies had been killed. The apostles took their chance to wipe out the ones they captured and the troops we left behind fell almost immediately with no supplies to heal themselves. The king, for slaying the daemon, had knighted Metna. I could not eat for days and sleep lead to screams of soldiers who were being slaughtered. But still, I trusted Metna.

 

The elves that had teamed up with our people during the Day of Despair met with unfortunate circumstances and were infected with impure magic from demons. They became Noels and whilst thankful that they were not eradicated, became a shadow of their former selves.  Such may have attributed to their downfall... But it was the greed of our race that caused the order to wage war against them and to overrun their peaceful kingdom. I was against it, petrified at the thought that our once allies would be fodder for our society. I have killed bandits, thieves, murderers and enemy soldiers but I was not prepared to dirty my hands with the blood of the innocent. When I told Metna my intentions of leaving the army he grasped my arm and looked me in the eye, “It will be too late; by the time you realise you were wrong; they would’ve teamed up with dwarves, ‘nd would’ve hung little Eir on the beam of your own house and have your wife slashed in the throat.” I punched him. The fury I had in me at the time and the thought of my family being slaughtered made me blind to reality. I just turned 28; he was 29.

 

The reality was that I would be conducting the same atrocious acts to someone else’s family, that I would eventually strew up dead bodies and pierce arrows into the throats of Noels. I was blind to my actions. I killed so many in the name of protecting my kingdom that it haunted my soul as I slept and my bones were restless by day. We managed to take over the Garden of Yggdrasil, as we kneeled in the court of the King, bountiful praises were bestowed on Metna. I had already turned numb, I watched my comrades perish after one another and still felt the blood of a Noel splatter across my face as Metna’s sword pierced through their fragile frames. I forget the majority of the speech but I remember my blood ran cold as the king bellowed loudly and with triumph.

 

“’Tis was a great idea, Knight Metna, overtaking Noels was a brilliant idea!”

 

My heart stopped for a split second. I had slowly turned to look at Metna, his face straight and briefly thanking the king. Once the formalities were over and we were allowed to leave, out of the hindsight of the king and his soldiers, I punched Metna so hard across the face that he staggered backwards.

 

Now that I look back, I realise I had been screaming, “I watched Jarl, who only turned 18, become cursed and stagger into death. I watched as you discarded Skadi because he had lost his limbs and bled to demise, I watched as you killed a whole family as they slept even though they had surrendered. And you! You are the one who dare to suggest this havoc and pain and fatality of numbers!” I was seething as the words escaped between my teeth. His hand was on his jaw and he slowly looked up. I distinctly remember the shadow of a nearby tree covering him as he murmured so softly that I thought I heard wrong.

 

“I want to be king.”

 

I was dumbfounded. I swore. I swore so hard that I thought my tongue would burn off. “Why in the hell of Vanaheim would you want that?!” Then he told me, he told me he had a calling, he told me that in his bones he could feel his arm rest on the throne and that his cranium needed the sturdy crown of authority. I had no words for him. He was aware of what he was doing... and he did not care. I saw him smirk and for the first time I was mortified and disgusted.

 

“I’m goin’ to climb to the top, even if it means stabbing allies in the back and stepping over corpses. Even if I have to walk in the rain of blood.” I remember him looking down, pausing for a moment and by the Gods I had wished he would snap right back up and laugh, saying that he was joking and explaining that he had planned the lie for a long time. He did not.

 

Metna smiled, the familiar one that I knew best but in his eyes something changed, he whispered:

 

“Join me,”

 

Before I knew it I had drawn my arrows and pierced three lightning fast shots through his armour and into his chest. As he fell, I realised he had just turned 33—I had murdered my best friend.

 

Metna, Old Norse metnaðargjarn, the ambitious one, Knight of Midgard, General of the great army, you were my best friend. But I was not yours. If I had been, I would have seen the destruction you were willing to cause in order to accomplish your goals. I would have seen, not the glimmer of excitement in your eyes, but the burning flame of ambition. We both laughed in the face of evil because we knew we were the ‘good guys’, that we fought for the righteous people and plunged swords in the name of justice. I never knew, that the whole time I fought against evil, that there had been evil growing in you. An evil that we have never encountered before, a force scarier than evil—and that was you. You controlled the army of Midgard with the same force you use with your sword. Ambition.

 

You are a fool, Metna.

 

No... I am the fool.

 

A fifty-year-old fool that awaits Ragnarok. So at least we can start over, and choose not to pick up the sticks.

 

 

It is not evil, but ambition, that you should be afraid of.

Title of Short Story: The Nameless Footsoldier

With despair and rage in his heart, the nameless knight sets out on a journey to get himself closer to Odin and Freya. “I need to find a way. Entities that lived hundreds of years could provide me with some answers but where can I find them?” said the knight. He recalls an old tale of an ancient being in Midgard by the name Baphomet resides in the Mjolnir Mountain. This ancient demon has lived for many centuries; nobody knew exactly when he came to this world.  It is also known that Mjolnir Mountain housed one of the oldest forests in Rune Midgard and many travelers lost their way in it. Finding Baphomet might be the first step towards his goal.
 
After days of travelling and climbing the mountain, finally he found the forest. He set up camp at the entrance and starts looking for food before continuing his quest. Even at the entrance a strange aura is felt, it gives the knight a feeling of serenity but the presence of danger and death can also be found. “This should be interesting.” said the knight as he grins while his eyes piercing around the forest. After having his rest he enters the forest; little does he know a mysterious figure follows him from the shadows.  He walks aimlessly with no clue whatsoever for hours with no one or even a Lunatic insight; it’s just him and the silent forest. As the day starts to get dark, the knight decides to stop and rest on a nearby tree. Suddenly he heard a faint noise that is becoming louder and louder; laughter, cries, shouts and murmurs can be heard.  He calmly stands up and said “What trickery is this. Do not waste your time on pathetic attempts to catch me off guard, simply show yourself”.  All noise comes to a full stop and fades away, all noise but one a simple giggle can be heard. “Sitting alone in the dark and listening to all that, you didn’t even flinch a muscle.” said the voice in an amusing tone as it shows itself.
 
The knight was expecting a more unique appearance, but the figure revealed was a girl and that didn’t surprise him at all, “It’s just a little girl,” he said. This result a tantrum reaction, in a childlike manner the girl reveals her name to be Lunae, a being with elemental powers and a very long resident of the forest. After a very long introduction followed by emotions Lunae ask the knight his name but no backlash from him like before. He only exposes his motive to search for Baphomet, another wave of tantrum is triggered as she is in disbelieve that a mortal is looking for one of the most feared entity. She hands him a broken necklace that will glow if the user is close to Baphomet as well as warnings before she leaves him alone.
 

Enter the Great Lunae!

 

After Lunae gone, leaving only silence to the surrounding, the knight decides to continue his search in the grim darkness. He didn’t feel anything towards the darkness and silence, in fact he feels calmer in this environment. Following the brightness of the necklace the knight could sense extra ‘sensation’ while the glow gets brighter, it was faint at first but after sometime he felt it even stronger. His massacre in the dimensional crack has granted him another kind of sense, a sense where he can read his surroundings and enemies even when other physical senses are obstruct. In his heart he felt heavy, pain, despair and other negative emotions, his breathing is getting heavier and heavier; it is the feeling of death. After several hours of searching and the sun start to rise, he finally comes across a huge gate, the necklace glow to its brightest and suddenly broke down; signaling its life span has ended. Faint whispers of insanity starts touch the knight’s ear telling him to go back and never return as he approaches the gate, he made his ear deaf to the ‘noise’ and enters. 

 

Whispers of the dead.

 

Inside the gate, the scenery is very different compared to the outside. Lush trees and flowers can be seen everywhere but unlike the forest where they are not grown in a disordered manner, it’s as if they were nurtured and taken care of in garden fashion. The flowers grown are also not known to humankind, concealing their beauty from the outside world. Even with all the surrounding beauty at present, it does not dismiss the deathly feeling in the knight’s heart that crushes him slowly. He moves forward deeper into the magnificent garden. Again he walks aimlessly further as if it’s like a never ending maze. He thought if only the necklace wasn’t broken it might be very easy to find his way. Suddenly he realizes that the deathly feeling also grows strong as the glow gets brighter, what he felt can be used as an indicator to Baphomet. Following his instincts like an arrow he went further deep into the garden, he was expecting to be attacked by something but it’s just him alone. Sometime later, he comes across another gate but they were guarded by two deviruchis. They didn’t alarm the other residents of the garden when they first saw him, instead they stood there quietly. As he approaches them, they greet him with a smile like an old friend, signaling no hostility to this nameless intruder. Simultaneously they announce out loud to the knight that Baphomet is waiting for him in his throne, this surprises him as he is expecting some kind of aggression instead of an invitation. Both deviruchi opens the gate, letting the knight in to meet their master in his chamber. 

 

A devilish invitation from the master.

 

The gate shut close after the knight invites himself in, he makes his way following a path which leads to Baphomet’s throne room. He felt something very wrong as he approaches closer; as if his mind about to go insane and his chest is about to explode due to intense deathly atmosphere. At the end of the path, the throne room door was opened for him to make his entrance. There majestically stood Baphomet at the centre of the room, holding his enormous scythe. Out of instinct the knight takes his fighting stance to prepare for any sudden attacks, but Baphomet roared “Put down your weapons human! For now you are my guest, I have no interest in fighting you!” He did not trust the words from the demon. Baphomet reveals that he received news from the Vanaheim world that a mere human manage to survive in a dimensional crack, killing their kin and absorbing their powers. For now, Baphoment cannot travel between worlds like he used to in the past after being sealed up deep inside the Mjolnir Mountains by several nameless heroes. The reason why he couldn’t break the seal is because his main source of energy, the Goddess Freya, is currently being sealed as well thus limiting his full potential. Non-demons can still enter and exit his garden normally but most of them became victims to the resident’s brutality. The only thing that Baphomet can do is trade information between both worlds. He also mentions that he sensed immense power that could rival his own when the knight stepped into his garden and warned his subjects to avoid him at any cost; that power is from those of Vanaheim demons that were absorbed. Finally the knight accepts Baphomet’s invitation to be a guest. At an instant the deathly atmosphere disappears once a mutual understanding between the two has been achieved.

 

The first encounter between the footsoldier and Baphomet.

 

Without introducing himself, the knight explains to Baphomet that he is wants destroy Freya and Odin in order to stop the wars between humans, this result Baphomet to burst into laughter. He couldn’t believe that a tiny human wanting to slay two powerful deities, the knight kept silent and stares at Baphomet. The laughter stops when their eyes met, both stares deeply at each other indicating how serious this matter is. The silence went on for a few minutes; seeing this as an opportunity to resurface on Midgard, Baphomet agrees to contribute his wisdom of the devildom in the knight’s quest but in return the knight is required to sacrifice something as a toll and sign of alliance. Without hesitation, the knight said, “Take away my name, I have no use of such possession,” this surprises Baphomet because it is such a huge sacrifice. In Midgard, a name is a symbol of your existence, your bond with others, your honor, your humanity and your life. It is the basic element that shape who you are. Discarding your name means throwing away everything that you have forged so far in your life, cutting your bonds with your loved ones and erasing your existence. Some discard their names for good reasons, for example to get away from their horrid past, but for the knight it is a different case. The knight knew that he will cross blades with people he has known in his life and he doesn’t want any emotions to get in his way, so erasing his name is better to prevent distractions from doing what he must do. Before beginning the procedures, Baphomet asks for the knight’s name but it falls on deaf ears. Baphomet understands the knight’s purpose and without further question, he lifts his scythe and starts chanting words of Vanaheim. Some of them made sense to the knight because of his visit to the dimension crack, but for most of them he couldn’t understand any of it. When Baphomet’s chant comes to an end, he slams his heavy scythe to the ground, causing the garden to shake. When the name removal spell was complete, Baphomet ask the knight to cry out his name with all his might. The knight couldn’t utter his name. He still remembers it and it was at the tip of his tongue but when he tried saying it, the words won’t come out as if something preventing it. Now, he is just a nameless nobody.

Both allies further discuss their plans to bring down the deities. In order for Baphomet to aid the knight on Midgard, Freya must be set free as she is the key to unleash Baphomet and his armies. The knight has to awaken Freya and absorb her on his own. To do so, he is required to obtain the Guitar of Freya, which was once used by her to guide valkyries into battle. Legend has it that when the guitar was struck, her fearsome warriors will descend upon her enemies. The guitar also acts as an amplifier, having this relic come into contact with the Goddess; she will have enough might to break free. As for Odin, he will be taken down after Freya has fallen. Currently, the guitar is in the possession of Prontera Knights; meaning he will have to fight his brethrens. Ending their discussion, the knight sets out for his mission. He stumble upon Lunae at the forest exit, she was expecting him. She revealed that the necklace he possessed acts like an all-seeing-eye, feeding her with information even if the radar-like function broke down. Like a child she exposes his intentions, saying that only death awaits him. His pathetic existence amuses her so much that she is willing to help him with no condition. Her only interest is the events that unfold. She offers him her collection of clothing, or costumes to be exact, as a disguise for him to easily roam into Prontera. With her magic, Lunae change his clothes instantly. From funky to weird fashion, the knight finally found what he felt comfortable with. As a parting gift, Lunae give the knight her favorite Peco-peco mount, Blacklightning. With Blacklightning as his stead, he makes haste towards Prontera.

At the speed of lightning, it only took him two days to reach the human capital. Normally it would take up at least five days. As he passes the city gates he gazes upon Prontera’s luxurious architecture, glorifying the might of Rune Midgards. It was a place he once called home but not anymore. Because he was once an elite knight, he knew every single hidden road designed for the knightage for safety purposes. Suddenly he met a familiar face, he was sure he had put that person to rest, its Lissur Anailuj. Their eyes met, a grim smile carved on each other faces. Lissur broke the silence by congratulating him for surviving in the dimensional crack. He could kill her on a whim but that will cause a commotion. Instead, he walks away from Lissur out of annoyance but her next word halts him. She revealed the location of the relic to be in an underground chamber beneath the Odin Orthodoxy chapel, being kept safe by its keepers. Even high rank aristocrats are not aware of its existence. Lissur even gave out information how to access those chambers. The knight question her judgement of entrusting him with such information, her only reply is “You will know, one day.” They go their separate ways.

 

 

When midnight struck, he slowly made his move towards the chapel. His experience and knowledge on Prontera security system gave him a huge advantage to avoid from being detected. Silently he made it into the chapel. Following Lissur’s instruction, he manages to unlock a secret passage way leading deep down the earth. With his senses as a guide, he found a maze-like base that is being heavily guarded. In an instant the hallways are lighted up, exposing every shadowy space including the knight’s hiding. Making the first strike, the guards fell before they could react, the knight proceeds deeper. Alarms start to echo, signaling they have been intruded. Wave after wave of guards he fought, nothing could stop his rampage, his enemies stood little chance.

 

The first strike has been delivered.

 

He sensed Freya’s presence as he moves further; following it like a scent he came across a huge chamber at the end of the maze. Inside the chamber awaits four warriors which consist of a beastmaster, a priest, a soulmaker and a sorcerer. They stand between the knight and the relic. He has known them his entire life; they were once companions in the knightage. The four were very surprised when they first saw him; they couldn’t believe their eyes that a friend who was announced dead by the kingdom still walks among the living. That is not the case for the knight, this kind of encounter is what he is expecting as he knew that this day will come. Slowly with he approaches them, demanding for what he came for. The four warriors warn him to surrender before he incurs their wrath but all of it was ignored. With sadness in their heart and without warning, they made their first move; knocking him back. Both parties went all out on each other. Slashes after slashes, damage after damage; the battle rages on for hours. Everything that has been thrown at the knight seems to be ineffective as he shove the damage off like it was nothing. One by one the warriors reach their limits; they couldn’t keep up with the knight. For the knight, it is just a matter of time for him to take them down; he had sparred with all of them and he knows their weaknesses. He manages to counter and survive every single strike. When the opportunity arises, without any remorse he struck down his friends with a killing blow; only the priest manages to survive.  

 

Heartful cry. A battle between friends.

 

She looked at her fallen comrade, blood spilled everywhere. Summoning what little strength she has left, she stood up; looking at the knight straight in the eye. “There is sorrow in those burning eyes,” she said. She attempts to speak his name but she couldn’t, her tongue prevented her from doing so. She know his name very well, she could never forget someone who once had close ties with her. The priest figured out why, it is because a name removal spell, a spell only available in the devildom. Tears start to flow from her eye. She couldn’t believe that the friend she once knew want to be erased from existence and to bring down another cataclysm to the world. In a shaky voice, she asks what had caused such a great knight to fall into madness. She wanted to know what broke his mind, what corrupted his soul and what tainted his body. All of her questions were ignored, but the only response from him is a simple apology, “Forgive me”, those were the last words she heard from him as his sword plunges her. Her mind starts to go blank, her body becomes heavy and her temperature starts to drop. It is time for her to join the fallen. 

 

She is in disbelief of what he has become.

 

He took the relic from the priest’s cold hands, he grins as he gaze upon the beautifully crafted guitar. It feels as if power is flowing inside him when he held it in his hands but at the same time it starts to break his mind and his body become uncontrollable. The guitar seems to have a will of its own; it attempts to make the knight its host as it refuses to bow down to a lowly human. With only sheer will of his mind he fought it, trying to tame the guitar and gaining full control of his body. After several struggles, he won. The guitar of Freya finally accepts him as its master. “Who goes there!,” a voice suddenly interrupts him. Prontera’s elite assassins from The Darkness Shadow guild has arrive. On a whim he mercilessly kills them all leaving only their bodies on the floor. Out of satisfaction, he let out a mad laughter which echoes throughout the now empty base. Both Midgard and Freyjanity will have to face this new threat as he plans to take down their respective deities. 

 

A new threat has awaken!

Many minutes passed, and Zeras Hyperion subconsciously grabbed at his sword hilt. He glanced nervously at the adjoining hallway, where the footsteps of several Freyjanity followers were getting louder. In front of him stood Kiel, finally alone but with such an imposing presence Zeras could hardly stand without breaking a sweat.

 

“I never thought I would ever find you alone,” the Prontera Knight said, and his sword appeared in his hands, ready to strike against his foe.

 

A dark laughter escaped Kiel’s lips as he regarded the Prontera Knight.

 

“Zeras Hyperion?” he asked, as the footsteps in the hallway were getting even louder.

 

“You know my name? That will speed this up,” Zeras answered as he slowly walked forwards, shield in front. Kiel kept him squarely in line. “I shall make you understand why your cult ends here today.”

 

Kiel did not rebuke Zeras’ words. Instead, he rose to his full height and as he grew taller in Zeras’ eyes, it wasn’t until he was twice as tall as Zeras did the Prontera Knight finally realized that Kiel was levitating in the air.

 

Zeras heard a shout in the adjoining hallway, but it didn’t matter. Not to him, and not to Kiel. He didn’t realize that the Prontera Knightage were fighting the Freyjanity Followers. He didn’t even care that the Prontera Knightage were winning or that the Freyjanity Zealots fled and abandoned Kiel.  

 

“For the orphaned children you captured here.” Zeras Hyperion said. He didn’t piece together the smile that crept on Kiel’s face. “For Prontera, and for my brothers that have died for this cause.”

 

“For the Glory of my Goddess,” Kiel countered, “For the rise of the Freyjanity and for the sake of MY brothers and sisters who have died to help me achieve not only my dream but our shared collective dream.”

Yeah it's been two months that the event is finished and we never were able to get all the WP et VEP staff to read all theses amazing stories.

They have been working on a lot of events, and preparing DWF, new UI, patches, and you know a lot of work.

So I brought again this event today and It's been decided that I would make the final call.

 

I already submitted my decisions months ago but I will ask you guys for few more days of patience cause I will be rereading everything too remake my view on the winners. I will be choosing 5 WINNERS !

 

I also requested that all the participants receive an Event Random Box so it should be delivered as soon as I'm finished.

I'm really sorry for the time, the trouble and for those who didn't win cause most stories were pretty good and it was very difficult to pick 5 !

What is kinda sad is that most participant may not even be still active but if they come back one day they'll have a surprise.

Hey Lyrella, no you were supposed to received both perm item. I got some messages from the other winners who had the same problem so I assume the GM who send them made an error. Don't worry I already send out the problem and it's gonna be solve really fast !

I ask of you guys with the same problem to leave the temp version on your temporary box or in your bag so a GM can log in your account check the prize and correct it.

 

I also requested that the GM who made the mistake be wiped (naked of course) 100 times per item error
