Hey there, I'm Devin/Pseudosaint.
Well, I just started RO today, on 11/5, and I can say I'm quite lost.

I've read a bit of the forums, but this is my first post. I have quite a few questions that are completely noobish, but please, bear with me ;D

Well, I've currently hit level 6, on valkyrie. I have all the same gear as I was given during the tutorial, and somehow managed to end up in/around Morroc. The deal is, I have no clue what to do haha. I've been killing a few of the Pickys etc. south of the town, trying to hit base level 10 for my first class (I wish to go thief and on.) But, either I am quite impatient, or these are giving me close to no experience at all. They hit 20's on me, I hit about 60's on them. I have 70hp max.
Is there somewhere better to train?
Is there better gear to be had?
And if there is, I would have to imagine there to be a suitable price. What are common ways to make a bit of cash throughout the game?

Well, pretty much, I need help figuring out the mechanics of the game. Any and all help is greatly appreciated.

You need to be job level 10 to change to 1st job, not base, so perhaps you can go thief right now, unless you just made a mistake in posting. D:
As for your leveling rate, Pickys are decent since they're 3 levels above you, but you might want to try baby Desert Wolves one map east of the Picky map, since those are level 14. Ideally you want to fight monsters that are 10 levels above you if possible, because you get an exp bonus that way.

As for gear, the Eden group quests will give you some good stuff once you start doing those.
I'm not entirely sure on the making money thing though, sorry. =(

So far, things are getting a little more clear. Started Eden quests etc. :3

As long as you collect all of the items enemies drop and sell them to the Store NPCs (they give you the option of buy or sell after you talk to them) you will have zeny (money). As you get higher level, the value of monster loot scales with your level, getting higher and higher. What is a lot of money to you now will be a small amount later on. Don't get discouraged that you can't afford elite equipment other players are selling just yet; by the time you are level-appropriate for those items, you will have a clearer idea of how to earn money for them.

There are a lot of guilds out there that could help you out. Some guilds only accept high level players but there are plenty that are willing to take anybody who will be active and they could really help you learn the ropes.

I've been collecting all of my drops, and many that are just laying around, but purchasing stuff to heal me drains it pretty quick haha. Milk ftw.

Ah, yeah, he's playing on valk isn't he? There are hardly any bots on Ymir - like, it's rare to see one.

Yeah. Its pretty annoying too since most of them from what I see are rogues. Haha. I gotta work hard on my kills.

Welcome to RO and glad to see another Thief! ^^

Yes, Valk has a lot of botters - make sure you look distinctly different from most botters (male, 1st hair, default red, default clothing color) to prevent having KS happening to you. Do you want to change to Rogue or Assassin?
You're doing pretty well - 200K for Strawberries and such, that's pretty much how I'm getting my money, too.

As a thief, healing items shouldn't be that necessary - if most of your points go into AGI you'll hit and kill the enemy before they can hurt you ..

I plan on going dual katar sin, and I've been adding a bunch more agi and dex lately, so healing items have been less of a neccesity :3

A katar is a two handed weapon, so you just need one to have it show up in both hands.

AGI and DEX sound good though If you don't have a merchant already make sure to make one so that you can get discount on those healing items as well as sell the loot you find for more with overcharge.

Thanks for the clarification :3. I've yet to actually see a katar, but from what I've heard from various players, they add some good crit as well.

I should probably go make a merch tonight in that case xD

I think I have solid enough gear for now. I've been in Payon Dungeon for the last 8 ish levels, are there any better places to train until the next Eden quest (40) of my next class change? (Which I believe is also at 40, but job level.)

I've been on Ymir for a bit, and I think I don't mind the bots as much, at least I don't feel alone, or left out on the street like some kittens nobody wants cuz they have their own kittens, all, pedigree .... or something -.-
