Hello everyone!
I'm new in the game and there's a lot of things I do not know about. I'm playing as an assassin as it's my favorite job in RO1. I've read other threads and they tell me that equipment plays a very major role for your character compared to stats. So can anyone give me any advice of the appropriate equipment of an assassin? I'm just lvl 42 btw and I was hoping to loot for some decent armors. I also chose blacksmith as a job since I thought they would be able to forge armors (dead wrong there xD). Please and thanks

The best equipments for your current level would be those equipments rewarded for completing Cursed Ghost Ship dungeon quests. Although the bosses inside this dungeon also drop their own set of equipments, and got slightly better stats than those quest rewards, their low drop rates doesn't make them worth the trouble. Both set of equipments only allowed usage at level 43, but the experience points from quest rewards and monsters should be enough to send you there.
From level 1 to level 50 you don't need to bother yourself much with crafting as those; zenies, potions, equipments, and miscellaneous items obtained from quest completions are enough to cover your journey.
Equipments plays a very major role as compared to stats..? Hmm, doesn't really get both you and the thread you're referring too. The gears in the game doesn't have much effect rather than giving stats and seed runes. The thread you were refering to maybe was discussing about the difference of the gears' effectiveness pre and post ML. The gears in pre ML doesn't give too much stats to be considered, but after you pass the ML test and become an ML, you will want to grab ML gears as soon as possible as it gives much better stats compared to pre ML but the downside is that it increases only several of your stats, not all.
