well I notice that when im using other shield my SC aspd reduce by -5. what will happen if I used thorny buckler (10% bonus aspd)... does my aspd will not reduce? or still reduce but not -5.

178 + normal shield = 173 aspd

178 + thorny buckler (shield w/ 10% aspd bonus)= ?????

It will still be reduced. It will probably end up at 175 or 176.

ASPD % increases are calculated by reducing the attack delay (200 - ASPD), so in this case: 10% x (200 - 173) = 2.7. Your ASPD will increase by 2 - 3 points over your shield-equipped ASPD.

Yup - assuming you don't have any other large % aspd reduction effects that stack additively with that 10%.

That shield is less impressive now than it was originally (in prerenewal, there was no shield aspd penalty) for sure.

Usually 10% is a flat +1 aspd more or less.

How much % gives depends a lot on your agi. With low agi, % increases are incredible.

100% aspd increase will make you 193 aspd without single agi

The aspd that you gain from a given +% effect depends on only three things:

* Your current aspd without the modifier, before accounting for any +aspd effects.

* The sum of all other +% aspd effects that stack additively

* Whether you're third job or not (third job can get 193 aspd, otherwise, limited to 190).

200-old aspd = old swing delay

Swing delay w/+% aspd effect = (old swing delay)/(1-(sum of +%aspd effects, not including this one))*(1-(sum of +%aspd effects including this one))

Change in aspd = Old swing delay - Swing delay w/+% aspd

a bit of algebra and:

change in aspd = (200-old aspd)*((1-sum of % aspd mods)/(1-sum of % aspd mods, incl new mod))
