I know that there's a topic about penetration and the effects of it against an enemy, however I was wondering how penetration is calculated. (i.e: the additional penetrating rate) I was comparing my penetration with 2 other sins.

 

Me

Additonal: 8.84%

 

Guildie

Additional: 8.91%

 

My alt

Additional: 9.90%

 

I also realized, even without wearing gears, my alt still has 9.90%. rip

So I'm wondering, what factors into penetration? (Sorry if this is a silly question...but I'm a noob when it comes to stats ><)

Basic formula would be:
% Rate = Penetration / ((Penetration * 0.005)+(Level * 0.2) +10)

So the only two variables are Level and Penetration. As with most formulas, the higher your level, the lower your rate gets. Can't really tell if there's an artificial cap put into effect like with Vigor and Def etc., though the natural cap of the formula would be 200%, which is of course too silly to consider.

The Penetration value you would input is the first number on your character window, and your output is the third. The second number doesn't seem to serve a purpose...or ANIME was too lazy to figure it out :).

As for how useful it is in FP...it's not. At least not until you use Guild Skills on top of it. ANIME estimates that the defense of FP mobs is around 96-7% (the raw number goes into the 30,000's, so we're not going to bother to narrow it down >_>).

Actually, we're looking at the second number and it seems like some of the stuff above is wrong. Oops. :) Will let you know once we summarize it all, but take the above with a grain of salt, because it's likely wrong~
