Born on this day in 1882 in Hungary, Bela Lugosi played the iconic vampire Dracula in the landmark 30s horror film of the same name.
Much of our modern conceptions of vampires in general are influenced or parodies of Lugosi's charismatic and decidedly foreign performance. He would never quite reach heights that high in the film industry but his mark on cinema is undeniable.
As much as I admire his more famous work, as a Mystery Science Theater 3000/bad movie fan his work with the legendary director Ed Wood is much more dear to my heart
