I'll get straight to the point:

 

1) In PVE, does the element on weapons only affects the damage done to bosses? Or are other mobs also affected? And how am I to read those % element icons below the boss healthbar? Does +x% mean that I will do more damage on the boss if I have that specific element, or does that correspond to the boss's resistance to that element, in which case when I see a -x% is when I'll do more damage with the element?

 

2) Lets say that after getting the answer to the first question, I choose the correct element, for which the boss shows that it would take 100% more damage if I hit it with the fire element. Now what? How much more damage can I expect to deal if I have, say, 100 fire damage on my weapon? Does this affect my overall damage in some way, or will I only do, say 200 total fire damage on top of my regular damage?

 

3) I see people talking about "farming basic elements", and "element dungeon", and "elemental weapons". First I thought that they were talking about the galaxia dungeons, where I would farm cards that give elemental bonuses, but now I'm thinking that it's something else entirely... could someone please explain?

Element damage is dealt to any monster or player struck by one of your attacks and skills (unless you're a Sorcerer ; in that case, very few of your skills will deal elemental damage. This might apply to some spells of other classes, too). Bosses have a %resistance shown : a positive value reduces damage dealt to them, a negative value increases it. Regular monsters will be dealt full damage as far as elements are concerned.

 

The %resistance only applies to element damage in itself : 1.000 damage + 100 fire element attack on a boss with a -50% fire resist will amount to 1.000 + 100 x 1,5 = 1.150 damage.

 

Galaxia dungeons cards aren't about elements in any way as far as I know. You might want to go and talk to Gwen, on the floating island in the Port of Winds.
