Is there a wiki up or a fan site that gives information about quest, monsters that drop the quest items, what map to find the monsters on and other goodies like how to get wings or is it pretty much just word of mouth in-game?

Back pieces (wings and the like) don't drop anymore in this version, so your only option for the equipment sort is buying them off other players on the market. There are CS back pieces, so you can either buy them from players as well or try your luck with the mix board/CS.
