no fun local shows(well, not as many), start of biblical documentaries and short series(at least locally), fasting from eating meat(maybe), old folks getting someone to chant some weird, long @$$ chant(i think it lasts for a whole week)......here's wishing all Catholics out there to have a solemn Holy Week
so.. its the start of Holy Week in the Philippines

We called it Holy Week. And I think you guys called it Easter Holidays.

Its basically the last leg of the Lent season when people fast ( apart from abstaining from meat/alcohol etc.,). Holy Week starts off with the Palm Sunday to commemorate Jesus entering Jerusalem, followed by Good Friday when he was crucified and Easter Sunday when he rose up again. Some tend to fast for just this one week alone while others fast throughout Lent. Hope that clears it up.

Here in Mexico we do some religious stuff during Easter too (though it depends on how bent on religion you are).
Good thing is that March 21st is a national holiday (President Benito Juarez's birthday) so we only got to work 2 days Holy Thurday and Friday are off.
We also get our batch of religion-themed movies on the weekend on open tv: The 10 Commandments, King of Kings, Ben-Hur, sometimes Jesus Christ Superstar and that Franco Zefirelli's miniseries, Jesus of Nazareth.

Woah, almost the same with us (except your holiday).
We also got our prime time list of religion-themed movies/documentaries from Holy Thursday, to Black Saturday.
For some religious stuff, I say it gets bloodier on the streets as Good Friday comes near.
