Ragnarok if you want renewal, classic if you want... well, classic. Try them out both and decide for yourself?

This is like the question: should you get birthrights or conquest?

There is no right answer except that in birthrights you get Kagerou and Orochi and for conquest you get Camilla......all are splendid choices.

On the topic of RO, try both.

play for a month, if you dislike it then switch to another option.

If you've never played RO before I would recommend renewal.

Classic is RO with it's old mechanics(?) while RENEWAL is RO with new (somewhat messed up) mechanics. If costume gears are a big deal to you and you want em, go RENEWAL.
