I hear alot, and i mean ALOT of stuff about what reduces it, some say ranged reduction like horn card and long mace, others say neutral resist like deviling card, some say only GR reduces it because of property nature, some argue Alice does and doesn't for MvP's, and others say racial and size cards work, people say neutral barrier/magnetic earth/blinding mist/basilica are the answer.

So now I seriously need answers here, what is correct and what isn't? I am so utterly confused about this skill.

Also, i have a topic in the creative contraceptions thread detailing ideas on who i should draw as a girl, i hope people will suggest some great ideas, before i decide maybe to draw Chakri as a bodalicious female RG.....yum yum...

EQ is not a physical attack, its neutral magic attack. The only reason GR reduces it is because its a neutral magic.

DR only reduce physical attack, it doesn't work on magic attack like EQ or Comet.

DR works on magic and physical.

Its EQ specific, i stated it already.

EQ voids the effect of any reduction cards equiped by your character. It can't however, bypass element check, thus why GR is the only way to reduce it.

EQ just works like old Dragon Breath, using HP and SP to calculate physical damage. Then it bypass all form of %reduction from equipments and cards since such physical damage doesn't be calculated from Atk.

In case of EQ. It use Atk to calculate magical damage. Then it ended up as the same way of DB.

Other %reduction bypassed damage such as damage from losing HP of Hell Gate, Atk part of Varetyr Spear and Atk part of Demonic Fire. etc.

wrong. i used DR to tank comet attack from grim reaper yankou.
to not complicate things up, lets just compile it without telling it why coz EQ is weird:
GTB = null
GR = 30% resist
maelstorm = null
hallu walk = chance to null
magic reflect = chance to reflect
many people + homun + mercs = divide

Sigma, I love you, but don't confuse me even more, I spent the whole of last night trying to figure out what all that really means in the longrun..........I'm just a simple minded fool after all.

Is it necessary? Elemental damage can be either magic of physical. It hasnt changed a bit in 13 years


Only, again, only Asprika reduces only physical damage of those elements. Wich i believe is just bad scripting and should be looked into anyways...

sounds like I need to go visit renewal again for a bit! Cause that sounds a little more challenging. There was an mvp buff at some point, right? Because my renewal memories are "lol mvps haha god mode" *tanks everything on AB*

There are too few neutral damage magic spells. That may be the reason for the confusion. Besides Comet and Earthquake, I can't remember any.

There's actually one more way to deal with EQ and it hasn't been mentioned in this thread yet.

Guess not many people know about it,might as well keep it that way after all

An Alice Card is supposed to reduce Earthquake damage received from boss-type monsters, but a bug is preventing it from doing so. kRO received a patch to fix the issue in January last year. I do believe we haven't received that fix yet.

Aside from Royal Guards, Genetics have the ability to evade Earthquake in the form of Castling, but you need to set up a good position for your Homunculus. Luckily, AzzyAI will help you out with that. Of course, it's a tricky ordeal when it comes to Ifrit's 0.5 second Earthquake cast time.

As far as renewal is concerned, I'm a complete noob, so, that's to be expected from me. Plus, the sound skills are not technically spells, though they deal magic damage.
