The studio would like to work with the players to create an implementation plan that works for both the players and the studio. So we would like to propose that all shadow items become in game content earned through adventuring and discovery.
 
Introducing the Shadow Analyzer!

Acquired through a short quest. This mid headgear when worn allows players to see monster shadows living on another plane of existence. Giving monsters a chance to drop their shadow which may then be turned into a piece of shadow gear appropriate for that monster.
 
Example:
If you wear this while fighting Marc's you will have a chance to get parts of the Unfrozen Shadow Set.
If you wear this while fighting Thanatos you will have a chance to get parts of the Penetration Shadow Set.
 
As part of this change the following would happen.
  • All Shadow Items would be blocked in PVP Environments.
  • Shadow Items would be removed from the Kafra Shop.
  • Shadow Items become account bound

Remove effect of Shadow Gears it's a good idea for PvP/WoE.

I think this is fine for all future shadow items, but the current ones we have need to stay the way they are, especially the ones people spent money on.

A huge no to the MvP shadow items. People will actually quit.


This will also cause a surge in bots targeting these, even if they are account bound.
Account selling is pretty rampant at the moment.

So all previous shadow sets, including sets like kingbird and physical will be account bound as well? Just clarifying

There is no PvP Balance Concerns

I'd rather not see this change...

Especially rather not see sets like penetration set EVER get implemented.

However, to take this idea and simply apply it to the current "basic" shadow set that the mysterious bugs drop and instead make it drop parts when killing monsters with the shadow analyzer on would be okay, but other than that doesn't sound like a good idea in my opinion.

Because it trivializes the card. You realize that the TT card costs near 100b, right? It is restricted to the weapon you put it in, this would be totally unbalanced and stupid.

Most of the work will be to decide wich monsters will drop wich pieces of some sets. The chance has to be low tho ( i think 0.1% is somewhat fine).
And dont bring shadow event again or make it once per year :)

The issues with these sets isn't how they are obtained. It's their mere existence.

 

I don't know how that hasn't clicked yet, with massive threads protesting both of these sets.

You need think about PvM Scenario. It will kill the rest of still living (but isn't hard to do it, looking the new updates).

Exactly. If you guys aren't making money off this, why the hell would you even want to put it in?
People are already saying the sky is falling and you will push them to reinforce their tinfoil hats if this gets put in.

How about you justify why it should be put in, Campitor.

We have made it clear why we do not want it time and time again.

What I can see working out is taking out the card system and keep the shadow system, or taking out the shadow system and keeping the card system. Having both is just overkill.

This is the less bad way i see for some shadow sets to be implemented, but i still dont like various of them(aka mvp effects).
If the drop chance of those pieces is no different than their cards, and shadow refine doesnt ever returns(aka various shadows breaking) this might be the less worst way to do it.

But still, the sets inutilize not only actual gears but future gears too, like Abusive Robe for example giving 4% def ignore per refine, etc.

this is a good idea for players to explore maps.

 

as long as:

 

it's not implemented in pvp/woe scenario

the drop rate is 0.05%

unrefinable when there's a shadow refine event

What's wrong with our current shadow gear system? It generates revenue for the company(good for gravity) and the players are doing their best to make sure you guys don't implement game-ending equipment. I don't really see a flaw in the way it works right now.

+1 disabling shadow set in PVP/WoE settings. :u

 

Also, totally fine with them being account bound. It encourage players to upgrade their own gears and learn the ropes.

I feel the concept is a good idea, just leave penetration set out.

That is not how things have been going lately. Mostly, these threads have been to ease tension before you tell us that kRO has a nice shot to give us and that it's only going to hurt a little bit. The feedback just leads to the type of shot we are getting next.

Just tell them no when it comes to MvP sets. Like Kali mentioned also; the shadow market is a huge part of the economy.
Why can't you just release the sets that make sense and are practical to everyone?

You contradict yourself too by wanting to disable them in WoE.
