RNGsus has been pretty kind so far I think, I need more safe to 7 certs to finish my gear though

Used about 17 certs getting these

Yup right ... even enriched can get you as low as +3 ... scam! lmfao jajaja xD

So ... without appro. 5k KP, I got 2 Imperial spears to +12 and 1 +10 Mad bunny :3

Until reading this thread I had no idea you *COULD* use HD ore to attempt +10 safely, since the NPC you upgrade to +9 certainly doesn't tell you and neither does the item descriptions.

 

Mighty hammer says you need a cert and HD ore to attempt +10, so stupid me I assumed that was the case. I just assumed I was weighing up the cost of breaking a +9 item vs the cost of a cert, since he's pretty clear at the start regular HD upgrading is only for +7 to +9.

 

*edit* I think that came off a bit negative. anywho:

 

Do I need regular HD ore because i'm upgrading from +9, or carnium since I'm upgrading to +10?

i had cleared out my zeny some time ago, and had 16m left on my account so no upgrades :T

at least some of the trash i had on the storage sold, so now i have about 3b to decide if i do something.

oh that's right, its because you can't see it and its not described anywhere that you can read it. why are *you* finding the concept of not knowing things that aren't described in the event page or in game hard to understand?

 

Just because an answer is simple, doesn't mean the knowledge just randomly pops into your head. you still need to find it someplace

I don't blame you for this. Mighty Hammer is not really friendly to people who are new in upgrading gears.
Plus the million types of stones you need to upgrade in this game.

I'll sum it for you:

Enriched Hammer: the bald guy who is only temporary. Only in eden during Enriched Hammer event.

                               he has higher chance to upgrade your gears than Mighty Hammer.

                               he takes Safe to +7 cert plus either Oridecon or Elunium to make your +4 gear up to +7.
                               Once your gear is +7, he will now accept Enriched Oridecon or Enriched Elunium to make it up to +9.

                               (during this process, if your gear goes down below +7, just continue using Enriched ore. you should not stop or else
                               you would need to use Safe to +7 cert again. I use to do this before!)
 

 

Mighty Hammer: the permanent bearded guy.

                           lower chance to upgrade than Enriched Hammer.

                           takes:

                                      Safe to +7 cert plus either Oridecon or Elunium to make +4 gears up to +7.

                                      HD Oridecon or HD Elunium to make +7 gears up to +10 without breaking.

                         
                          Once your gear is +10, he takes HD Bradium for weapons and HD Carnium for Armors to make them up to +20 (i think). without breaking.

 

Generous Hammer: Same as Mighty Hammer but no zenny fee during upgrading. Only temporary.

              higher success chance than Mighty Hammer. I think same chance as Enriched Hammer. not sure.

              He only takes either Enriched Oridecon or Enriched Elunium to make +0 gears up to +20?. with a chance to break.

             
            Once in a blue moon, there will be an event called "Refine event". This is different from Enriched Hammer event.

                    During this event, this NPC has a much higher chance to upgrade gears. but still with a chance to break.

                    e.g. Level 3 weapons have a 45% chance to be upgraded from +9 to +10!

That's because you're new to it, and the game gives you no hint to this being the most efficient method. I've been there once, and it never passed my mind the thought of using Mighty to try +10 and go +9 again with Enriched if it fails.

Same chance as Enriched Hammer, but he can break gears. The chance is coded on the ore used, not on the NPC.

 

~100 ores, 3 gears successfully upgraded do +9. Ash is not helping me, but at least not disturbing me either.

Just like the others who failed so many times trying to +10 their +9s
​and the others who even spent so much just making their +7s to +9.

​This is the game's RNGness at its best.
​SP leech from gears work exactly the same.
​Sometimes despite wearing RWH, thanatos weapon & Incubus pet, and making like a gazillion hits already, you still didn't leech SP.
​And then there are times when you would literally leech SP consecutively after the first leech.

RO is actually the famous TV gameshow "Wheel of Fortune" only in disguise.

700+20+300= same price as 2 shops selling it....
