Okay, so I'm just trying to be a somewhat of 'jack-of-all-trades' so I can join MVP parties (throwing mammos all around), have WoE fun (stun and mammo some afk dudes) and be more or less easy to level. Here are a few builds I came up with - all of them have a chain and a buckler equipped, all self-buffs used, alongside with a berserk potion snorted up like a line of speed. 183 ASPD and 89 STR (100 with just job bonus and default skills) guarantee good DPS and offer enough flexibility.

So I tried a few builds with various AGI, VIT and INT. I can't really choose, as I'm not that experienced with blacksmiths, so take a look:

Questions:

  1. How should I go about the stat build? I'm sorta clumsy so I like the idea of having a good amount of HP/def.
  2. What gear should I get? I know you can't really go on a budget, but I'd like to save a few pennies zenys.
  3. As for weapons - what are the most important weapons I need? Which elements? +8-10 Chain[3] with Hydras and Skeleton (around lvl 80) are out of question.

So let me preface this by saying I'm probably just as inexperienced as you are when it comes to smiths, but your first build is pretty close to what I am planning for my final build. I'm 6x right now, with 50 STR, 6x AGI and 30 DEX. I'm doing fine leveling with pots, but I'm starting to want to head somewhere harder like HOs, so I'm going to start pumping VIT over the next few levels.

I'm still working on a full gear set myself, so I feel you on the budget. Definitely start with Snake Head Hat; I upgraded mine and stuck a Myst Case card in it so I can grab some gift boxes while grinding. I'm also thinking about getting the merch card set. They removed the transforming aspect so now I won't have to worry about polying a Bio creature while leveling lol. I think it's pretty good, but like I said I'm new to this too, so there could be better stuff out there.

As far as weapons go, I'm saving up for a set of VVS elemental axes. You can hunt the mats yourself and pay a smith to forge it for you. If the servers stay up long enough anyway!  :heh:

I really don't want to get a Snake Head :pif: .  But having a Myst Box in head sounds pretty cool, I might consider that.

Should I start with equipment from the NPC store, or should I just stack up some cash and buy slotted stuff, that I can't afford to card anyway?

I'll bump this with a question: is it worth it to just go get store gear for now, instead of buying fancy slotted stuff?

I would save your money for the fancy stuff. Work on armor first if you don't have any. Roda Frog and Pupa cards are pretty cheap now.

An undershirt/pantie combo would help make your flee more useful, especially if you slot the undershirt and put a whisper in it.

As good as a whispered undershirt is for early PvE, that's really not going to be a good solution here. By the time he gets to the budget where he can get a slotted undershirt, let alone a whisper card, he's going to be at the stage of the game where you aren't dodging attacks anyways. It's amazing when you want to level alts, but no amount of flee is going to help a blacksmith in late PvE unless you're tackling some pretty mild content or have gone to a point of Agi stacking which is unwise.

Get a snake head. Just do it. It's borderline broken and it's cheap. If you don't like the aesthetics, take it off when you don't need it, but for grinding PvE content it is just silly how good it is. It is good for leveling alt characters as well unless you're raising a wizard. As far as gearing, it really depends on how far ahead you are looking. We are missing a LOT of gear.

The first thing you should focus on is a weapon though. Getting hit for less is nice, but things don't hit you at all if you're dead. An elemental 2 handed axe would definitely be a solid choice for farming in PvE content. The attack value is very high. When paired with your self buffs and the fact that weapon damage matters so much more in renewal mechanics, you'll be doing pretty well for yourself for a while.

Overall you really will need a few sets of gear, depending on what you are trying to do. Pick what you want to kill and then go from there. That might not be much help, but that's kind of how this game works. You need a shield to PvP. That's pretty much a given. You won't need it for a lot of PvE content though.

As far as stats go, you no longer need to reach intervals of 10 strength. That's an old mechanic that (sadly) has gone away. Strength has a fairly minor impact in your overall damage now, at least compared to overupgrading level 3/4 weapons. As far as being concerned about your VIT, the 50/60 you chose isn't too much. That's about right. Going higher wouldn't even be a bad idea. I wouldn't even consider touching PvP as any character without a bare minimum of 40 VIT.

TL;DR: Get an (elemental) 2 handed axe and start farming PvE content until you can afford a few sets of gear.

What should I do for STR then? Is 80 base STR enough nowadays? I can go with 60 VIT and some extra INT, wouldn't damage me that much.

Came up with this:
Screen_Shot_2017_08_01_at_2_33_23_AM.png

This is with a two-handed axe. Doesn't look bad, VIT would be the last thing I level. Should be able to do magma around 85-87+ too. Is that good?

Regarding elemental weapons: I already understood I need 10m to buy 4 VVS axes, but in which order should I buy them? I know for sure that Ice will be first or second.
Gear/leveling: Anything I would need asap? I am almost level 60 by now, and toy factory is getting boring. I am looking for better places to exp-roll, and not sure about where to go -> what to buy.

Some of the builds above have like 90 base str.  My understanding is that each point of str raises atk by 1.  Raising str from 80-90 would cost 90 stat points and net you 10 atk.  Raising luck from 1-30 would cost less than 90 stat points, give you the same 10 atk, but also give you all the other luck benefits.  You just lose the increase weight limit.

Absolutely correct me if i'm wrong on this.

My smith has 70 agi atm and only using awake can get 184, so 185 at 65 with berserk sounds right.

My smith using under-_- + paint (+5 agi) have

lvl 61

37 + 5 STR

72 + 5 AGI

30 + 5 DEX

and Awakening potion, gets just 182 ASPD with Adrenalina Rush and 2H Axe.

Especifically 182.94 de ASPD; your smith is getting 184 cause of probably Increase AGI on parties + job higher than mine, what gives you most agi of class job (I'm this moment with job 17, what bonus agi é 0).

Maybe you have pantie + under-_- too for +5 agi?

Default iRO wiki calc. I do not remember the author, but it's called after him, it's the most famous calc out there.

80 STR is a good stopping point, yes. STR sadly doesn't do nearly as much anymore, so you really don't want to spend a ton of points maxing it out when making yourself more well rounded will be far more beneficial.

Ice would definitely be the first element to get.  You don't really need the VVS. When you're in your 80s, it's not worth the extra money IMO, unless you're so rich you're just looking for things to spend cash on.

It also raises your attack by .5% of your weapon's attack. Just one of the reasons why higher level , high attack weapons are much better now. Still, it's not worth pumping all the way to 99 most of the time. The stat window unfortunately is really bad for attack at the moment, as it is missing a bunch of info.
