Frigg would not be a permanent server, they were looking for a solution for the lag spikes and the login problems and they would merge it with Odin after some time.

 

The anti bot system is on development, and obviously it's gonna be released for all their servers, why would they use it just on a new server?

Even p2p doesn't solve the bot issue, even back to year one and the entire time it was p2p only, there were bots everywhere. Even when they get a bot shield up, there will still be bots, even if they had the shield and p2p, there would still be bots. iRO will never be bot free, the most you can hope for is fewer bots.

Of course, I'm not suggesting they just ignore the bot problem, but nobody should expect a miracle bot removal, and nobody should expect to have their opinions even considered by the staff.

I'm totally in for a VIP only Frigg server

 

I make no delusions on the idea that magically a anti-bot special software security will be implemented.   A bot-shield is not my greatest concern and that is not the reason I'm for Frigg. 

 

A pay wall is  the minimum I need. 

Its better than the alternative of doing nothing at all,  and allows for more data to be generated on the matter  rather than relying on outdated theory-crafting from an attempt RO made nearly 10 years ago..

 

Talk is cheap but provides little data of consequence

We don't have a simple 'ton' of bots.. we have CRAP-TON of bots.. in a sense where any level of policing by staff is dwarfed by the rate bots are re-created. 

As I wrote. I'm not looking for a magic bullet i'm looking for efforts to actually begin to "mitigate" the problem.so that we can have something below "crap-ton"

Our own IRO went through different levels of bot policing over the years.   At one point Gravity did little to nothing to address bots..  We also went through a period where bot hunts were epic..

The failure of BRO's efforts might says more about BRO's actual policing of bots than the actual policy and measures in place, specifically since a paywall has been proven in many instances to actually provide a decent level of bot mitigation (NOT CURE.. but mitigation)

 

A mindset of "something isn't going to fix the problem 100% so lets not do it" guarantees that mitigation of the problem remains at 0% and actual data  involved with mitigation efforts remain simply ..theory and conjecture.

 

 

in contrast consider the DDOS attacks..

you could theorize and conjecture about mitigation of the effects of the DDOS attacks and decide "ok none of these things we can afford to do will fix the problem 100% so lets not do any of them" that guarantees that the actual mitigation efforts produce a 0% effect on the problem.

if the server is p2p and gms are actively banning bots then im pretty sure bots wont keep paying just to get banned.
problem is gms dont do nothing against bots unless you report them.

@campitor please sir, can you start a poll perhaps to see what the community wants? Choices can be:

to make frigg vip access only and without *free* transfer.

To make frigg vip access only and with free transfer.

To make frigg a regular server like odin.

To make frigg a starter server as originally mentioned that will be merged to odin at a later date.

Currently Frigg is on hold as were testing and fixing a few things. There will eventually be a Frigg server but there is no current time line.

And what happens when Frigg inevitably follows the same path as Odin? See the flaw in your logic?

I sincerely hope WP has realized how bad of an idea Frigg was. They need to focus on keeping the population together, splitting it would prove to be disasterous
