Mammonite, still a viable atk?

Hello all,

 

I am an oldschool player that remembers playing and trashing people with Blacksmith and Mammonite. 

 

I am curious though, is the attack still at the top of the pack damage wise with the current mechanics and the focus on attack power of the weapon used?

 

I am currently on the learning curve in regards to knights and 2hd swords compared to pikes. I of course remember the good old days of Pike & Shield BB Knight. 

 

I was looking for a little help here since i am so noob at this point in the game and would like to make a Smith but worried to do so if the damage potential just is not there any longer.

 

I do not worry much about going 2hd with Knight because of the HP pool/HP recovery pot buff but would rather not do the same with Smith since HP and armors do not match up. 

 

89 Str

48 Agi

74 Vit

48 Dex

 

With Job Bonus, Uproar & Hilt

 

100 Str

50 Agi

80 Vit

60 Dex

 

This is something that i would be looking at. I know that i am stuck in that old mindset of "multiples of 10" but i can not help myself after so many years of having it drilled into my head. 

 

Please school me with knowledge and show me how noob I am. I need to figure out wtf is going on in this game. 

 

P.S.

 

Just learned today that Emp only takes 1 damage per tick from reading forums /swt

 

Please help this noob x_X

Yep, still hits like a truck, specially with the insane ASPD blacksmiths can get. Now with STR you want to leave it to an even number (1% more weapon damage every 2 STR) and remember that now 3 points of LUK = 1 ATK. So basically if you plan on maxing ATK, when STR is around 80 it is more "convinient" to get 3 points of LUK instead of 1 STR, up to around 20 LUK. It is still a matter of personal preference tho. Remember that now weapon ATK is more important than number of slots, I think the best one handed weapon you can get for a blacksmith ATM is a Morning Star [2]/ Swordmace [1]/  > +8 Orcish Axe [4]

Been using that to calculate these pesky renewal mechanics, its hard to let go of those "multiples of 10 bonuses" mindset. Old-schooler here as well.

So, even with the new mechanics, Orcish Axe still good? Off the top of my head, i want to say that the attack power is only 80. Unless I am not following what you typed there.  

 

I did not know about the luck = attack bonus. I am guessing that is why you see all these builds with 80ish str. 

 

I feel stupid for even asking this but by "leave str on an even number" you are including job bonus and skill additions like hilt and Uproar, correct?

 

Lastly... stop telling me to remember!!! x_X I never knew any of this!!! TT_TT

Yep, because every 1 STR grants 1 ATK + 0.5% Weapon Damage, assuming it is rounded down (as most games) the safer bet would be to leave it at an even number counting bonuses (e.g. 83+11). And Orcish "Still" works because it is a level 3 weapon, in contrast to the classic level 1 weap with 4 slots thus every refine grants more ATK, but I think it is only worth it when it is upgraded past +8.

and ur build is nice, but go to a calculator, and see if invest 20 luk instead of 89 str and no luk makes u have more atk 

i think it does and also increase ur bad status resistence

You're English is very good. No worries.

I will check on the calculator. You are likely right.

I am finding it hard to trust that calc though. Perhaps not everything matches up exactly with renewal because using that calc with 82 Base Str, +5 Wolverine Two Handed Sword, Bless lvl 10... it says I can 1HKO HO with BB lvl 10.

Of course, I can not. Seems to leave about 1/5 of HP left.

Maybe someone can shed some light on this?

Sad to hear though that in WoE Mamo is not very good. It was one of the best attacks. I used to wreck people with it.

If any battle smiths out there could give some input that would be cool.

The calculator is good to calc the damage but it isnt updated to simulate restart fights/exp

It isnt reliable for aspd either, so you better chek that manually.

Damage-wise= Yes, hits like a truck, the weapons accesible right now for Battle BS are good enough, so It does not suffer the same problem as Spear Knights. Plenty of options there: Orcish axe[4], Sword Mace, Chain, Two-Handed-Axe, Crimson and more.

 

Zenny-wise= Maybe no. The increase in the monsters stats that came with renewal made some mobs more difficult to kill, so more hits= more zenny spent. The same reason applies to WOE, reductions make it very costly. Stick with card revolution/autoattack and only mammonite to finish things off.

On a different note, STR is nerfed in renewall, it no longer provide a bonus on multiplies of 10 and also is not as important in the damage calculation as it used to be. 80-90 with job/equip bonus should be enough, with the remaining points pumped into luck or dex for extra attack or vit

I have learned so much just from the time i posted this topic. Much of it from your responses to mine or other threads. 

 

It is still hard to not pump that Str on BS but when you do the calc, it just is not worth it.
