I'm honestly a zero WOE player as i seek pvp thrills in MOBA games and see RO as my rpg adventure.
My opinion is that banning players strictly is really a very bad choice given that we are only left with at MOST 2k plus real players and i reckon it will ever grow again. Every lost player is likely to be very painful. It's better to find out how exploits are done and make sure they cannot be used, so everyone gets a fair game, as camp's post pointed out.
It's very human nature to similarly try out exploits against enemies who've been using said exploits against you for a long time in order to even out the playing field. You might not do it, but you cant assume everyone won't (and they will, hence you see so many complains). D**a has had plenty of bugs that get exploited every patch when released and you bet there are huge droves of players exploiting them when they compete against each other. In many cases, it is better for the server to fix their system to prevent such cheats to begin with, and use ban only as a resort against serious cases.
Cheating players are likely to use black market to buy zeny and stuff as well, if you don't equate the way a game community works to how society works, you will never understand. It is not human nature, but human greed, which without deterrence many people will choose greed.
Not banning players is losing a lot more than banning players. Banning and deterrence will drive out a few, a few which are also more likely to use black market, while providing potential for many, many new players to either come back to the game that they lost hope in, or new players to try a fairer version of RO.
The company might also maximize profit in this case by taking a bit of a risk Since the game is old and has many players from long ago, ones that may be in mid to high paying careers now, every minute is precious, and coming back to a game where players cheat a plenty, including insane amounts of bots, these older players do not want to bother. Some of these do play and exist now, but at a smaller % than is possible. I mention these players because they would also buy KP points, on top of vip.
The company can lower the vip price to bring up demand, and use a pay to play system. Most players who already pay for vip and buy KP points will stay, some will leave, but with the lower vip price many more would pay. Use a second server only as a trial server, that is wiped every few weeks.
It is not easy for a company to base price on words of clients, it is safer to base it upon action, and I fear that this company's strategy is going by players opinions for pricing, not their predicted actions and actual actions.
