So I recently stumbled across this linguistic experiment that was done in the late 1980's.
English is classified as a Germanic language, but it's mutated a *lot* thanks to a cross-pollenation of sorts with many other languages. So Poul Anderson wanted to see what English would look like if you used *only* words with a Germanic origin. The result: Uncleftish Beholding, an essay on atomic theory.
Two things stick out to me:
1. This text seriously reads like some of the Engrish we saw in iRO's early years (I'm talking 2001-2003ish).
2. "Worldken" is an incredibly badass name for science. Viking scientists!
Heck, half of the scientific words he invents sound like they ought to be used by Rekenber Corporation as scientific terms.
