Hi all,

 

Is the damage increase of the ordinary black magician hat fixed now? I read before the bypass works but not the increase in dmg.

Only Chain Lightning damage did not work. It was working last time I checked.

how does the mdef bypass of the hat work??

 

does it work at +5 with a final mdef of 20% + 10% = 30%??

 

or

 

does it work at +8 with a final mdef of 30% + 10% = 40%??

Yeah the description definitely looks confusing, could be 30% total or 40% total(30% additional). Got clarification yesterday that it’s the latter, credit to Ashukel.

weird number at +8 making it 32 and only counting 30.

Well the root cause of confusion is that 30 isnt a multiple of 4 but 20 is, so for some ppls its logical to think that 30% is cumulative rather than additional.

such as  using  two handed staff   (SFB , SOD , Crimson Staff < not the Mora one  ,  Mora set staff  , VM Staff   etc.)  

 

include  using 4x True KKs Valk Knife

 

 

* Compare to one handed staff + shield  that have  NP/NCT combo card   to bypass 50% on some races + Magician Glove 
  Pororoca / Survivor set  + Magician Glove   

 that's both are easier to get 100% bypass 

 

 

 

only way to get 100% Bypass with these weapons  will be like 


40% Bypass  at maximum requirement  of OBMH

 

 72 Str and use PDM   = 60% Bypass 

 

= 100% Bypass

Seems like everyone is saying magic bypass is addictive, ,I thought it was multiplicative?

 

So by having Pororoca set (50% bypasss at lvl 10 frost nova) and magician glove, we are already at 100%? So adding a ordinary magicians at (bypass of 40%) won't do anything?

So are you saying NP/NCT combo + magician Glove, Pororoca/Survivor set + magician glove can or can't reach 100% bypass?

 

Cause your first sentence seem to suggest that it can't 100% ("for builds that' can't reach 100%"), but then your last sentence seem to suggest it can, thus "you don't need OBMH +PDM".

Yup Lady Neko is right, the Lacryma and Survivor Set are usually the optimal for Waterball, Chain Lighting and Earth Strain skills, but not necessarily for other skills like Crimson Rock and Soul Expansion. If you use other weapons/gears for these skills and you cant reach 100% MDEF bypass, you will have a trade-off to make for raw matk/skill bonus vs MDEF bypass. The 40% MDEF bypass from OBMH, when paired with PDM(60% easily at 72 STR), will result in 100% MDEF bypass that will not lock you in a set of gears with weapon and shoes, so you have more flexibility.

 

However, since OBMH is a headgear and cannot be used together with Celine Set, its use case may be limited to normal mobs, as the loss of 50% boss damage bonus can be quite significant. In this case, boss MDEF bypass items will come in handy, ie. Vesper Card and Vicious Mind Rod with boss MDEF bypass option.
