Just now I received a pm from a respectable person who unfortunately removed my "How to do ET 3 times for yourself" and informed me that "Big card edit" is illegal.

First issue, why am I not allowed to teach new players how to kill GTB or do ET 3 times per character per week? Is it because some people feel threatened that new players might get a lucky drop and they dont? Or is it because some people feel threatened that this will saturate MvP cards in the server? Or is it that some people want to just keep this advantage to themselves alone? How is this mortally right or even fair when some groups of people know about this ET trick and the other new groups of vulnerable players dont get to know and we keep them ignorant about this trick to farm zeny faster? For whatever reason you want me to stop spreading this awareness to the ignorant new players, get your right and fix ET. If you cant, then let everyone be equal and aware that they can kill run ET 3 times.

 

Second issue, is Big card edit illegal or not? I'm getting a mixed answer from authorities. I am pretty sure it's worldwide-known that it is legal. If it's now illegal, I will be more than willing to delete my iRO clients and re-install it to make it right because I make videos regularly.

 

Really, I feel like a dumbass for making videos to promote iRO and getting new people to try out this server. You know that every veteran is doing ET 3 times per character. You know that every veteran uses a Big card edit. Why the -_- do you want to keep the ignorant ignorant and dumb? Is it that so new players can buy OCPs and sell OCP items to trade with MvP cards?

 

And dont you delete this thread. I'm rising up valid concerns here. I find this issue very unpleasant and backward-cultural how you dont treat everyone equally and fairly. I really need a clarification once and for all.

Big card edit is legal, but like....I think maybe they had a problem with you saying "PM me how to do it" because we are technically not allowed to discuss how to do it on forums, weird rules though, since it's legal.

The ET thing might classify as a "bug" or "abuse". Not sure on that part, Camp would need to comment on it, but it seems pretty norm for the community as most people probably do it, lol.

I would argue that Big Card edit would classify as a quality of life feature, as RO doesn't have a loot filter system like a few other MMO/RPG have nowadays.

A 10+ year old quirk that can be fixed by altering one line of code isn't a bug, it's a feature.
 

WarpPortal also gave up their right to complain about sprite edits ages ago, when their own people were caught using GRF mods.

hmmm, if that's the only message they replied to you with, then it doesnt seem like they even addressed the GTB thing in that reply. on that note, the entire reason why they nerfed ET years ago was simply because people would continuously re-run ent/naght since we all figured out the patterns on how to do it easily and fast. we were slamming zeny, so they had to introduce the ash effect. i think its safe to say they probably can't (or at least wont, maybe due to time/code/expense) nerf the party switch trick since it's seemingly fair. once you're out of ashes, thats it. you're not getting back in w/ that character.

as for big card, it is indeed a legal grf. there have been countless posts/threads about it over the years, it is for sure 100% legal. however as krit stated, we can't legally talk about it on forums. oddly enough i know of one other thing in the world that is like this. apparently its the same for stores that sell apricot seeds/vitamin B-17. you can sell them, but if you do, you can't also sell information about them too. very very strange.

I know we cant discuss ET and Big card edit on the forums ... hence ... I asked people to pm me. Over all, it is just strange and unfair how we are technically not allowed to discuss and spread the awareness yet it is legal. I think removing my ET part on my signature was understandable. Though, what really shocked me was how the person told me big edit was illegal. No no ... I've been iRO'ed ... and my head hurt ... critically.

 

Just want to double check if that big card is still legal or illegal but that is it. I am gonna keep spreading this awareness in my youtube videos nevertheless.

 

Hopefully we get to hear from Camp or Astra or Xealot or Magnus.

i know the et trick but i dont have big card edit .... (maybe im too lazy or too old for that?)

 

pretty sure they cant said it out loud , and we not allow to talk client edit here....

PM me and we can discuss what happened. In general we don't like having a discussion about editing the client on the forums because we don't want users to break their client.

That employee is long gone, but for context he was testing something for the goal of eventually patching into the game and being made available to everyone.

you're half correct hehehe. i had to bust that myth as it was a really peculiar one to me. took about 5-6 raw apricot seeds a day for like 3 weeks, about 10 or 11 years ago. not dead, nor did i experience any kind of poisonous symptoms, but on the flipside i didnt really feel any medical results from them either. just felt neutral overall :|
