We expect some wing animation improvements to flap into the game next week!

Why does it take 4 hours to change prices in kafra shop?

i dont think i need to explain this, but come on..

The most common thing in maintenace is upgrade the server software to match updates to the game, this involves pushing server code, restarting scripts that keep the game system alive, and enabling new content if possible..
Less frequently, maintenance is about hardware. "Particularly SSDs".

Everything players do in the game is remembered by the game, If a player cuts down a tree or kill someone or save position on somewhere, the remnants of their actions will persist in the game until the player moving it or a map changed, monster move, comes to disturb that state. Because they're storing all this information, the size of the data required to record this can grow unbounded.

The longer the game runs, the more memory its servers require to keep it going, and so the game regular maintenance is all about taking the game offline for an hour and cleaning up a snapshot of the game and running compression algorithms on its data to reduce and remove anything that isn’t important. Perhaps the game doesn’t really need to remember the exact position monsters, and can estimate it instead.
Maintenance is necessary, complex and dangerous. And that’s just the kind of challenge that inspires a company to work to make it as painless as possible for players and for themselves. There’s a lot that’s magic about how games connect players and let them play together, but updating and fixing themselves while they’re still running has to be one of their cleverest tricks and that's not be easy.

They don't do anything of that.

"Running compression algorithms on its data to reduce and remove anything that isn’t important." - What the heck is this?

The player and mob locations are stored in the memory ram of the server while is running and then they backup in the database when go offline. With the actual player base it should only take seconds.

Have you ever work in a MMORPG server? Seems you know nothing.

it's about maintaint the hardware. and yes, I worked internship at a game publisher company in my country a few years ago, and made mini games for my college and as a bug tester. so?

[edited]

some of maintenance usually isn't for fixing things but for clearing things up so the servers are cleared up of anything bogging them down. Normally it isn't more than 4 hours for most MMOs but I guess they have really♥♥♥♥♥♥servers over there so whatever it is they're doing is slow or fast as possible they can do.
