well,Currently Homunculus is braindead

 

just wondering that: is  Mercenary's AI still usable? I am planing to raise a priest and Merc will be big help( if it still usable that is)

Mercenary AI was unaffected by the Homunculus update.

So it functions pretty much the same as pre-hiatus. I've already had multiple mercenaries ever since re-opening

I don't use hoAI however i can't hire High Grade mercenaries cos Loyalty points are consumed.

 

Can players hire (Monster)Mercs. using zeny ?

Actually, the right command is /merai for toggling custom mercenary ai.
/hoai is for homuncs.

Mercenary loyalty points are only consumed when buying 10th Grade Mercenaries. All other mercenaries can be bought through zeny instead.
However, 7th Grade Mercenaries and above will require a specified minimum total loyalty amount with that mercenary-type for purchase (the loyalty points aren't consumed).

Monster mercenaries are giveaways from certain quests.
But there are some that you can purchase from other players instead (like Scaraba Mercenaries).
If you're on Thor, I have a friend who might be able to sell you some of those : P
