Some explaining:

When I closed the contest for new entries anyone that had posted before the cut off was allowed to make some small corrections, so edits to posts would not disqualify anyone.

Also please be aware the time and date displayed on all posts to the forum will be somewhat off as the forum has been set to the wrong timezone for a few months now. Many times I can't even tell when anything is posted, which is why around midnight I posted my message and temporarily locked this topic to make sure no one tried to sneak in a late entry.

Finally the entry I think you're referring to was uploaded to YouTube on June 30th and YouTube doesn't really let you replace or add to the video without it getting a new upload date (can remove parts though).

 

So unless I'm missing something it looks good to me. Please feel free to message me if you still believe there is a problem with any of the winning entries.

   • This is clearly AI Generated content and its closer to visual art than a video
2. Forum Name: Stormblitz / IGN: [D]eep [S]trike
   • Entries for the contest were supposed to be newly created content and not recycled. Not only was this content not new, but it was submitted to RO's got talent previously. See below for one example:

Obviously I am biased as I submitted an entry for the video contest, but I made 18 new characters (1 of each class) and leveled them all to their second class for this contest. So losing to videos that clearly break the rules is certainly disappointing.

1. Rather confused what you mean as unless I'm mistaken there doesn't seem to be AI involved. The whole video is detailing them creating the character from scratch then rigging and demonstrating their creation. So the screen capturing and video editing of their creation process for an iRO inspired digital piece of art to me still seems to fit the category Video & Music.

 

2. While there is some overlapping footage it is entirely re-edited and the video you mention is 3 minutes compared to 9 minutes for the winning entry. So being more than half new footage (and the reused footage seems re-edited as well) I feel is fair to consider it as a wholly new creation.

The point of that rule was not that you're required to only use brand new footage but the idea was that people can't be lazy and just link an old thing they made years before be eligible to win.

 

 

So I certainly feel both winners were deserving of consideration and your video certainly was a very very strong contender too. Sadly with only 3 winners it seems you ended up missing out on the Safe to 10 certs and VIP time. That said I was really impressed with what you had accomplished and wish you better luck for the next one since you certainly have the skill to win.

Bruh! Sum ppls submit they entries July 1 and still won. The deadline was June 30. How’s that even acceptable fam? You got sum explainin to do.

 

As VMod already clarified, the forum time for posts is in a different time zone. I uploaded my video on June 30 and submitted my entry around 15mins before the deadline of 11:59pm PDT (Server Time). I know because my time zone is the same as the server time. Maybe ask them to fix the forum time first.

The main point of that clause is to not re-submit a previous entry. If I had just reuploaded my video from 2020, yes that would result in disqualification.

 

However, the theme of my 2024 video was a timeline from the beginning to present, so there wasn't really any way to omit a few seconds of old content. My entry is an entirely new video, made of old screenshots, and some old vids, with new videos mixed in between. As it's an entirely new video and edit, it is a completely valid entry per the rules.

I do apologize. I had only seen the short clip included in the winners highlight reel and didn't see the full video of your work in clip studio. So again I apologize for minimizing your work and effort put into this.

Regarding the first video, I had initially only seen the short clip included in the winners' highlight reel, which led to my misunderstanding. After watching the full video and seeing the entire creation process, I realize my mistake. I have already apologized to the creator for my incorrect assumption.

 

For the second video, I appreciate your clarification on the contest rules about newly created content. While I understand that re-editing old footage can be considered creating something new, I interpreted the rules to mean that all footage should be newly created specifically for this contest. However, I see your point about the effort involved in re-editing and producing a different final product.

 

I wasn't looking to have the votes recast, but rather to share my perspective.

The world is already crazy these days when it comes in judging the arts. There were a lot of accusation of a person using AI to draw stuffs in competition and only trust kids' scribbles these days that were deemed original

You guys completely missed my Writing Participation prizes. It's on my entry post but you likely missed it. I should also have received the Costume Artist Sunglasses and Costume Artist Baseball Cap along with 10 more days of VIP, but never received them.

 

As a grand prize winner, this is very poor effort and embarrasing from the CM/GM team.

 

Also, I and some other Winners have been asking for the exclusive [RO's Most Talented 2024] Title that we can use beside our character name, but of course there is no response from the team. It's the least you can give winners since the prizes aren't great and there is nothing separating winners from general participants.

 

This just shows lower effort from the new CM/GM team compared to the past CM's/GM's, for contests at least.
