Submitted a ticket hoping the "specialist team" can seriously look into it but I got the response below:

 

 

"Thank you for your patience. Upon further investigation and test conducted by our specialist team, no bugs were found with the Maelstorm skill. The block / absorb "other magic" part on the description only applies to magic casted by other players, and it won't work on the original caster."

 

 

 

Tested it in game I can 100% guarantee ME is not blocked, same with ground paint skills.

I sent them 2 .rff fliles.

 

1.   I cast Maelstrom and have another SC cast Manhole near me (within Maelstrom active cell) which I instantly fall into. So there are 2 problems here.

 

      - If Maelstrom was working, casting Manhole in a cell where Mael is active shouldn't be possible, you loose the ground paint but MH will not cast giving you an error message that it can't be cast in that cell(similar to Land Protection).

      - Manhole was successfully cast and I fell into it, it's like Maelstrom was never there at all.

 

2. I cast Maelstrom and have an AB cast Magnus Excorcismus within an active Maelstrom cell and a few cells away from the active cell.

    

     - If the skill is working, ME shouldn't be cast in Mael active cell(same as above), but it did and I got hit multiple times with the full duration of ME.

     - IIRC, even if you cast ME away from an active Mael cell, the active cell portion should still block it, meaning there should be a part of ME that is cut off because of Mael.

Welcome to the club. Got a similar response, even having the audacity telling me I was using it wrong this whole time.

I haven't used maelstorm for a long time but when I used it it was in faceworm queen, when she rolled storm gust or LOV and you had malestlrm on your feet you saw the animation but those cells didn't damage you (if you moved if it hit you) and with earthquake you had I had to throw it at the faceworm queen's feet so that it wouldn't harm you (this part stopped working when they "fixed" it) I'll see if I test it again during the week to see how Maelstorm is reacting

Its not Maelstrom, Some skills like ME have the ability to damage even if there is a wall between the caster and ME. You should have seen it already in WoE where an AB plants ME then hides behind a corner. What Maelstrom does is turn the cells in it AoE to dead cells(similar to walls you cannot pass) and since the damaging effect of ME goes trough walls it goes through Maelstrom as well. This is also why man hole is bypassing maelstrom

I cannot say for certain with ME, but being able to cast it within active Maelstrom cell should not be possible, doesn't it work similar to LP? If you can cast ME in LP then I guess its a differrent case (but still defeats the purpose of Mael).

As for Manhole, I am quite sure that it should be blocked like other ground paint skills (casting within active cell range atleast).

Maelstrom description says "Paint a swirling circle (5x5 area) on the ground that absorbs certain ground-targeted skills.". I guess ME and manhole are not included in the list then. Its says certain ground targeting skills and not all ground targeting skills

Manhole and other ground paint skills are supposed to be blocked, that's how it worked before whatever change happened that broke the skill.

I noticed others skill which were previously blocked are now being allowed. Pneuma is an example.

This video shows all the skills except the skills listed in the post. I didnt find a blocked ME or Paint skill here in the video. Maybe find an old WoE video showing ME or Paint skill being blocked by maelstorm. There are plenty of skills with similar effect but different in their coding. ME only started damaging players in May 2020 so it might be harder to find video of that.

I have no videos to show right now but I do have a couple of posts in this forum confirming that Maelstrom blocks ground paint skills way back, this, this, this and this. If that's not enough, irowiki (although not an official website but still credible) also states that it does block ground paint skill. IROWIKI.
