There is no voting process this time.
The GM choosed the winners allready and contacted them during the forum downtime, as Oda said in another thread.
They just keep it secret till all headgears are developed and tested.

I don't like this whole secret thing, I mean I still suspect them of stealing my idea even though there all like "we submitted that idea before the contest"
I think there should be some kind of voting proses or at least let us know a little more info.

Unluckily the theft is common in RO in this kind of contests, 3 years ago there was another iRO contest, with a troublesome voting. A large part of the gears weren't between the winners, anyway after around 2 years we saw some of our not selected headgears in the list of official RO gears. This happened also for my Dog Bone( idea stolen to make Umbala's Spirit, and even if it is in the nose and not in mouth, on the sprite is always in the same place) or Frankenstein's Bolts (there is a similar gear in cosmetic gears of kRO) and other gears by other players now are official even if they weren't in the winner list.

So unluckily this kind of thefts are without solutions, and also at your particular problem, I remember that a time Heimdallr answered me in a PM, when I noticed that some gears were inspired to ideas from p.servers, that all players receive the same influences so they can have similar ideas. So taking this sentence for "true", you can have thefts not cos the ppl is bad, but just cos the same idea can be in the mind of everyone and it has been sent before of your.

I'm sorry, cos I also think like you regarding the thefts in general(this for all, not only RO), but unluckily the story is this and we can't change it.

Anyway I'm sure that soon they will announce the winners.^___^

P.S. Sorry my english but are 6am and my mind is a bit out.

Same happened within the one headgear contest euRO held.

Winner Headgear was the Jasper Crest. It should been euRO only, but strangly, fRO got it too (before euRO closed!)
http://rns.gamona.de...tem&itemid=5396 (just for the design, don't mind the german please ^^)

Besides that, there was the Striped Hat. It was created by an euRO player for the contest. Half a year later it came ingame, they just made it a bit shorter and with a smaller brim. The creator never got Credit for it.

I'm very mixed to that.
On one hand, I think it's not fair that the rightfull creators don't get any credit or even a little gift for creating it.
On the other hand, I think it's nice to see this headgear ingame at least...
If they would acknowledge the fact, that they didn't had the idea and would gave a proper credit, I don't see any point having something against it.

Same happened for iRO, it had Shark hat before of fRO even if it was from a french guy. But in that case is cos fRO sent many gears in Korea(not only the winners) so they took many time to be realized, and second cos on fRO you have 2 new gears every weeks(this was one reason cos I played also there), so they couldn't publish more gears per week. Another similar event happened also last year when fRO GMs sent my 5 gears in Korea(I won a contest there), and after few months I saw a gear that could be mine(it was a pair of butterfly wings) already active on kRO and I think also on jRO, but not on fRO, ok, it was for the cosmetic slot I think, anyway made sense that they could wait to have the renewal also on fRO before to publish it on other servers.

I agree with you on the credits, anyway for the copyright law is enough change a little particular, in our case a pixel, a color or just the name, and you lost all copyrights on it. So for this reason they don't need to credit you. Anyway as you say is also fine to see your gears in game, at least you have the possibility to use them.^___^

interesting, i do agree that it is cool at least they get used in the game.
and it is in some case hard to tel if the idea was stolen or not.
not really much to do about it.

but if their gonna hold a contest like this I think they should keep up with it.
i think when the contest is over, the whole form should be deleted.
I also think the people should only be aloud like 3 submissions.
and like I said b4 winners announced as soon as they choose them.

I dont understand the whole

"How about you guys send them to kRO first, THEN once we get the actual headgears, announce the winners. Beats the usual of announcing and then waiting years for the headgears to come to iRO."

I just think this adds a whole lot of confusion

even if the winner are e-mailed,
I think the losers deserve to know what won, why, when, who designed it etc.

I agree with you that after the contest would be a good thing to delete the submissions, in 2008 I made that to myself, for my entries, always for the copyright law. Anyway all list of the gears selected for the voting, has been always accessible from the old forum, and if I'm right also now. So I assume that the headgears that we saw in game came from there.

About submissions, this is regarding me and I don't talk for other users, I like make sketches, so I post many ideas for that, but knowing that a large part aren't good for the sprites. When this new contest has been up, having won a contest on fRO, I asked to Oda if I could take part to it, cos I didn't want create problems. He said that it was fine. So I took part at the contest, also cos winner persons in 2008 contest took part again at this new contest, so it could be a similar situation like mine. Anyway if my big amount of submissions gave you some bother, I'm sorry, next time I won't take part at next contest, so there will be more space for the entries of other persons.

Regarding the sentence that you reported, that make sense, cos in the old contest, some of the selected gears never has been implemented, since they were really nice on the paper but not good for the sprite. So for that reason that this time the GMs wanted to keep the secret, waiting to see if all gears will be implemented, and if someone could have problems, they will say that at the artist, but without give fake hopes at the persons that wanted that gear, saying before "Yes, it will be on iRO" and then "No, Sorry but we had problems". I think that a public sentence like that, first could bother the artist and second make loss the credibility of GMs regarding the judgment.

Regarding the loosers, you are right, maybe a right thing was also to say the results to all participants, using for example a forum like that of the old WPS.

This is the second contest of iRO and I think that they are testing what is the best way to make it, I'm sure that the next will be made improving the wrong points of this.

oh, why won't you participate next time? q.q
I would love to see new headgear ideas from you in future...

Regarding the commissions, I don't see a point why restricting the ammount?
Even if some people upload 50 submissions or such.
It can be that none of the 50 submissions is choosed, but in contrary, someone only posted one submission wins because the one submission is great.
It doesn't reduce the chance to win for the others.
But I would appreciate two different rules.
First: One Thread only for one participant. Seeing several threads with only one headgear idea from the same person is confusing and not very comfortable to look through all submissions.
Second: Only one Headgear can win from each participant - which also makes sure that people with many submissions won't steal the show for others with only one or two submissions. - At least if there are enough participans for every place that is ^^

I can understand the concern over seeing items from old headgear contests popping up uncredited in new item updates. In a lot of cases (even some of the ones we have requested from HQ from the last contest) the items are already implemented or in the works in a different version of RO. I don't think HQ is reading the forums to take headgear ideas, though if your idea was something that we didn't submit and is unique enough so that somebody wouldn't stumble onto the design in a natural way, we can certainly ask HQ about it.

Next time I think limiting things to one thread per person will make it a lot easier to browse through. The headgear contest was one winning headgear per entrant.

Yep, as I said before in my post, there is the possibility that some other person could have the same idea, an example in this contest, I don't remember the user, but another person had the same idea that I had regarding the Bolts, and I don't think that this user came on my DA page and he saw my headgears. Just they are common things that we see in game, so is quite simple that idea is came also to him. Also all my new entries, honestly dropping KH monsters are quite predictable as all dolls that are made from monsters, on my DA page I have many KH fans that visit me continuously, so well an Dropping from there can come from everyone. While if I made an headgear with a kaassouffle(a food typical of the Netherlands)I think that is really difficult that some other person can have the same idea.^^;;;;

Regarding the entry selected, I knew about that, my only worried about myself, was that I took part at 3 contest of RO, and there are already my gears in game or inspired to them, so I think that is right that now RO needs of gears from other players.^___^

Nothing you can ask, but with the stripped hat, they really tooked the idea from the german participant.
It was a one to one clone in many pixels, just expect the bigger brim and the originally one hat 2 stripes more in high. Everything else was exactly the same. Can be though that B:IC had send it with the Jesper Crest and maybe 1-2 other headgears to korea.
But still, no credit was given. It was a birthday headgear for euRO as it came to us though and the person had to make it himself (instead of the Jesper Crest that was given named and +10 to the respective winner)

If you willingly give an item/artwork/etc to a company, it belongs to them ENTIRELY. Paid or not paid, that is how it works. They aren't and most cases won't give you credit, because it's not necessary to give that sort of attention in the first place. It's more attractive NOT having someone elses name stamped on someone's © and/or Company. As a matter of fact, it isn't nice to clutter :) ingame with that anyways. Welcome to the real world, if you wanna be a PAID artist that is. Real (paid) artists do more than enough art to not make a big fuss about where their name is stamped and how much attention they need.
