The website tells me that I can become Shadow Chaser as a 99/50 Rogue OR Stalker. I am currently a Rogue and thinking of going straight to Shadow Chaser and skipping Stalker, but if I do, will i not get the skills Stalker offers? If yes, will I miss those skills? Is it a good idea? Answers would be appreciated. =)

You will not get the skills, you may want your stalker skills since mostly all 3rd job chars are defined by their transcendent skills. The website tells me that I can become Shadow Chaser as a 99/50 Rogue OR Stalker. As a Rogue class, you definitely want to go Stalker first. Leveling back up isn't even that big of a deal anymore. So I wouldn't be too concerned about it.
As stalker you get one of the most beneficial spells a Rogue could ever get:
Preserve (you won't lose the skill you copied through the Rogue skill Intimidate -- so you can actually level on monsters that use skills).
You also lose out on extra hp/sp and of course, and all those fancy skills you get from transcendent class. I would definitely not advise it at all.

If you don't go Preserve (which is nice for things like Bowling Bash, but also annoying, cause it's not a toggle), There's also Full Divestment, so if you're going the Divest route, you save that much more SP and time.
I'd say it's worth it.
