I plan to use bot for for sweeping Ymir market data like ragial.com. This is for my personal use. I know that any use of third party program is prohibited. But I think this should be an exception since ragial bot never get banned. I will open 2 new accounts for this just want to make sure I will not get banned coz I have to pay for these account.

An exception was made for Ragial as it's account is used for a very limited scope (and i believe monitored for suspicious activity as well) and provides a useful service for the entire community that enhances and simplifies the game for many people.
You want to use a bot on an account for personal benefit, which gives you an edge over other players, which, is quite obviously something that would not be acceptable and quite clearly doesn't fall under the same category as ragial.
Now, if you wanted to make something that the entire community could benefit from... That MIGHT be a differen't story.

Thanks for quick reply Although I expect the answer from GM only
Send in a ticket. Ragial etc. gained permission to use a bot so its likely you'll need to request it for those 2 accounts. They'll then monitor those accounts to make sure its not doing anything other than collect data like levelling, hunting items, buying, trading, selling etc. But I think it wouldn't be worth their time to grant permission and monitor the acitivity if it had no purpose other than individual curiosity. What are you trying to ascertain that sites like Ragial can't offer? You could ask the owner of the site for certain data or features if you want:

How about my limitation is these two characters are prohibited to walk around and have to be in Prontera only?

You cannot really guarantee that as someone could easily warp the bot out of town quite easily.
In fact when you see a big lag in ragial times that is what has happened to their bot.

Ahhh What are your benefits from wishing that Ma'am?I don't see why the GM team should waste time monitoring 1 person. Seeing that the rest of us are kinda paying for their time to be invested in more meaningful things, and that you will not offer any community service, I really wish you are not granted permission xP.

Benefits: GM's use that time to ban more bots, look through more tickets, attempt to get us new patches etc. instead of wasting time monitoring/checking up on 2 bots that are made to benefit only one player over the entire community over 3 servers...Ahhh What are your benefits from wishing that Ma'am?

"ragial bot never get banned"
Can you offer actual proof that the GMs are looking the other way with Ragial's market bot, or is it a matter of the GMs haven't just notice/ found the bot yet.

If you want to extend their functionality you can parse these sites' data and do w/e you want, its simpler..., if thats not enough, just learn some Perl, you don't even need permission, just recreate the accounts in the unlikely event they get banned.

From a thread titled "legal bot?" regarding Ragial and Ragnastats:
We monitor what is being done with those. They let us know which ones they are and we granted them the use of those bots exclusively for gathering the market data. If they were buying items, selling items, leveling etc they would be banned.
(can only find the thread via Google Cache now because it was probably moved to Trash Can during the forum hijack)

I think even if a bot were purely collecting market data it'd be pertinent to get permission, because I am sure there are certain ways 1 player could infilitrate the market for their own gain by collecting certain data that might also be bannable. If people like Dishonru from Ragial had kept all that data to himself, he'd of been like the megalomaniac of RO.

What does your proposal stand to do for the benefit of all of iRO, and why should an exception be made?

We communicated with Ragial regarding their methods of data gathering and gave specific approval so they could offer the service to iRO as a fansite.
What does your proposal stand to do for the benefit of all of iRO, and why should an exception be made?
What about now?
are people allowed to have their own "bots" run around like ragial to get the same advantage as the current owners have after they removed the "cheap" section from ragi.al?

Not a bro!
And yeah i revived it as the question is back up to date again... As the ragial owners currently have the "only" (?? - wouldnt suprise me if there are more people than just the owner) who have the advantage of seeing someone selling items for cheap/below average market prices
Can we use a bot with the usage like the ragial bot.. for our own "collecting" data skills, is a very valid question to ask - since iRO have tolerated the ragial bot for so long - surely he/she shouldnt be the only one allowed to do this.
