how am I supposed to get to be a theif....I'm out of the training grounds but every time I try to do the theif dungeon thingy I get 1 hit by everything in the first level of the dungeon

Er.... Don't they warp you straight to the thief guild to become a thief? After u speak to the thief npc....

2 ways. First, you can ask a higher leveled player to kill the bats. Second, you can get the Novice Platinum Skill Play Dead. Either way will make the Familiars less of a problem.
