I think the big issue with wizard is that it is very random to get an opportunity to kill someone.

Even if your opponent is being hit by it, you only have 40 % for the said player to being frozen, while other classes have a skill that guarantees decent damages and/or stun (except for invoker and earth master)

I also have to disagree with some of the things that mentionned Hom...I mean OokamiNeko.

First of shootdown cannot be dodged if the user has enough attack speed, gatling rush will hit you at least thrice since if the player cast it in front of you, regardless if you are in the air or not, and basic attacks can be used or the air (which makes them harder to avoid if you constantly jump against an invoker).

While blizzard has a longer cooldown and won't always hit the target, and if he does, it will be only once, then have to roll with the 35 % chances of freezings AND the freezing rate reduce, all thanks to anges necklace and alexandre gloves (and those poor Kryos equipements).

Also DS developpers never implemented that kind of physics, unfortunately.
It is once more, all about RNG because the time that server refreshes the player's positions could or not could be at the time that the player is in the blizzard area, so nothing will happen and the player will keep running like nothing happened.

But overall, I think that blizzard is probably the best 2nd job skill (I do not consider the fact that it ignores element damage as an argue, or fire emblem since the said skill needs a passive on the 3rd job to reach it's full potential)
It has a low MP cost, it deals decent damage if you're fully hit and it can even freeze people. It's just too random when used in PvP.

Reminder to everyone that this thread is about issues, not how to play the classes.

Basically elements should not affect sorcerers, because they already do enough damage, boosting damage for the sole purpose of 1v1 is absurd as in groups there damage will spike up, when it's already strong. Not to mention late game, the damage will lower since many stacked players have a ridiculous amount of resist.

This is a role playing game, but that does not mean a class should be able to do everything at once, otherwise there would be little diversity.

If you can't catch players in a 1v1, play a different class. There is a reason why a sorcerer can lock until you die, but have a tough time catching.

Sorcerors cannot lock until you die... Stop saying that. Blizzard is a 40% chance to freeze. If they have Kyros, it's even less. It's not guaranteed.

Emblem + Z > Blizzard > Emblem + Z > Time Stop > Emblem + Z > Blizzard > Snow Blues > Emblem + Z > Blizzard > Emblem + Z > Time stop > ... or something. If you have enough to trap an opponent for 20s, it basically means that your cooldowns are refreshed just when you need the spells for the next rotation. And Sorcerers can lock for 20s, not even breaking a sweat.

Just do the math, 2 + (let's say) 3 + 2 + 5 + 2 + 3 + (let's say) 5, that's already 15s while both Snow blues and Blizzard can freeze for a longer time (maybe 5s for Blizzard and 7s for Snow blues, this thing is plainly absurd when used right), plus you can cast other spells to make your opponent flinch instead of only choosing the ones that outright stun them, before casting an Emblem and following up. Backdraft, missiles, poison cloud (whatever its name is), basic attacks...

This is just not an issue. Sorcerers are quite fine, just less easy to play than most in 1-on-1 fights since they don't have any reliable catching tool. Superarmor anytime, super-heavy crowd control, teleport, area of effect attacks... Blizzard is a coherent and powerful spell, it just has to be used the way it's more useful. Asking for it to be a great skill in itself, in any situation, isn't about balance or issue, but the plain boost of a class that doesn't really need it. I feel like changing anything to the Mage class wouldn't be a bright idea anyway.

I'm going to remind everyone again that this thread is not for discussing combos and builds, but issues with the classes, such as bugs. I've gone ahead and cleaned up the Thread.

Reading the first post about this topic it's pretty clear that discussion on balance and skills is something that's also welcome in this thread. How do you suppose the state of a skill can be discussed about if people can't talk about how it's used? Or how the class is optimally played?  Nothing was going off-topic there.

The problem with the thread was that people began arguing about combos, and mechanics, instead of discussing whether it the "issue" with blizzard was intended.
There were also quite a few off topic posts.
If you disagree with my actions, kindly bring them to Popcorn, or Dragonlark. Thank you.

Thank you for clarifying it. People were constantly talking how to catch with blizzard with comboes instead of, "it isn't working as intended, making it worse than it should be." I am not sure if the problem with blizzard can be fixed. People can constantly jump through it repeatedly in PvP, but in PvE, it hits in the air. I am guessing that looking at the animation of blizzard, it should be hitting in the air.

In rare specific scenarios in PvP, it is possible for it to hit in the air, but it is very unlikely because it requires them to stand where the blizzard was cast and for them to jump right back in. No one in their right mind would do that unless by accident.

Hello everyone!

I felt the need to say something about this topic.

Precrush, you can't see what is going off-topic if it already has been hidden by one of us, except you're monitoring this forum 24/7 and I doubt that you do that.

As for the Blizzard skill, we will look into it when we have the time for it.

At this point I am going to lock that topic before it goes out of hands because users feel the need to argue with VModChimichanga.

And Precrush, please refrain from PMing me about the topic lock. I won't discuss with you why I lock a topic or not.

If you fell the need to complain about locking the topic feel free to bring it up to CM Dragonlark.

Topic locked.
