Fora GX, tanking involves 2 fortune swords for a beginning rate of 40 lucky dodge. You can expound upon that with wild rose boots, mischievious fairy, rosary of flash, LUK, etc, and easily get over 70% or more lucky dodge with gloria, which means even the badest most 3x powered up MVP/monster hits will miss you, as well as the majority of hits in a mob, regardless of the size of the mob. Downside is skills will infallibly hit you, and that's where the majority of the damage comes from in this game.
Better off with a high HP character like Royal Guard that can eat earthquake hits, while reflecting that damage back as well.

Just that royal guards are on a whole different level from rune knights when it comes to tanking.

I have an idea. Lets everyone make a sura. That way everyone is equal. They can do everything anyway. Tank, heal, one shot, aoe.
For those missing it, the above is sarcasm, and a stab at how versatile monks are when other classes get boned in their own areas of "expertise". Sura's should be the jack of all trades, master of none.

Um. I wouldn't suggest the RG because its based around shield reflect. Which isn't really "tanking" its just mobbing to solo level. But that is likely getting hit with the nerf bat unless gravity decides not to change shield reflect.
lol.
Tkwan's joking aside, go ahead and make a Royal Guard for the reasons already stated above. MVPs like Beelzebub are frequently killed by reflecting damage, while tanking. Being a tank and a killer at the same time is a double bonus.

First part was joking yes, but the nerf bat part is literal. The changes are terrible.
Here's the changes.
Reflect Damage
Added status icons.
Damage reflect chance (Chance to reflect damage successfully) changed from 100% to 80%.
Added Maximum number of reflects.
SP Cost changed.
Skill upkeep SP cost changed.
Can now ONLY reflect melee range attacks. This means that long range attacks, magic spells and traps will no longer be reflected.
Reflect damage tanking is completely unreliable and makes it a skill not worth getting. There's other things to put the skill points in that would be better.

Except you need it level 3 for earth drive which is a useful skill and that's a pre-req for shield spell which is an (arguably useful skill in solo play) which in turn is a pre-req for inspiration. Meaning you'll still get it 3/5 either way.
It's like smite, no matter HOW useless a skill is, if it's needed for one of the more important skills for the class, you'll still have to get it. Crusaders have been screwing people over with pre-reqs since day one.
People build RG not as a tank though. They build them as some super fragile-but-high-HP blob designed to reflect kill, thus having crap shields, no reductions (even the +damage from -race- cards) and rely on reflect damage's ability to proc healing by hunterfly, or SP healing from moonlight dagger while running kaahi. With reflect's changes that are to come that won't be possible anymore and is the whole reason for the changes.
Either way, RK is easily just as good a tank as RG when it comes to raw tanking, unless they screwed the HP formula up they should still have a higher base HP (outside inspiration) than RG
Most of your tanking is done by gear anyway. Racial reduction, armor property (usually matching the property the monsters skills are, EG: fire in abyss) and USUALLY something like an immune-carded garment or equivalent betters.
Hell, Sorcerers specialised for defence can tank abyss lake like it's nothing and that class is seen as super-squishy. Eddga-carded HP used to be epic tanks also due to having high vit, decent HP and ability to heal, but gravity nerfed them from doing that pretty hard.
Sura's mental strength tanking is
