Ymir has next to nearly 0 of all except a few bots but you never really see them, or at least I never do. Lag is subjectional, I don't usually get it but others do so...

Why is that?
I thought all servers were free to play now.
Or does Ymir have more restrictions on non VIP accounts?

Ymir you can only play for free if you had an existing account before the transition to F2P, if you create a new account you can't play on Ymir until you purchase a 1 month VIP package. Reason being you only are allowed 0 characters on Ymir.

I getcha, thanks again for the swift answers.
I must say that seems a far better way of doing things, wish they had of done the same with ygg.
Now I'm even more tempted to see about a transfer at some point.

I discussed this option and no matter how we looked at it, its subject to abuse. Forums is one thing, but accounts have payment, private information, and play time associated with them. The bottom line is if you're not a gravity employee inside their building its not going to happen. GMs aren't even allowed to login to their GM accounts outside the building, if they can't do it outside of work you can rest assure we won't either. Posted Image

There are other options being discussed its just what IS feasible and what isn't.

I'd at least like a way to flag suspected bots within the client and if enough people flag a bot if brings it a GMs attention and they can take care of it. With the sheer number of bots out there it's unrealistic to fill out a ticket-- if I filled one out for every bot I saw I'd never have time to play.

Also it feels like sweeps of the most bot-infested maps are way too infrequent. The hunterfly map is just sad

The fact that threads like this that offer solutions to the problem get 0 response from the GM team and they fail to implement them, brings me to the conclusion that they are somehow receiving kick backs from these gold farmers somehow.

Had to emphasize that part. They are there, and its obvious when you see some of the things in the markets. One of the big items GM's should crack down on with botting is the ones that seriously affect gameplay. Just a suggestion that maybe you could forward Inu, tell the GM's to moniter the players gathering these masses of 500+ ales each week to see if they are botting. With the low drop rate I've been told that hat has, I find it somewhat difficult to believe there would be so many legit (non-botted) ales in the market.

We have actually been discussing many new ideas over the past few weeks about botting in general. I'm keeping a running list myself of ideas I think of or ones I see, but in reality to stop botting, you have to stop it at the source because all these ideas are is merely stop gap measures for the bigger problem. You can blame hats and what not all you want but really the problem is the robot program itself. It would be nice to be able to break that when RO loads like a poison pill every week to sour them into not finding it profitable anymore. Thats my thought anyways.

Implement a voting system similar to beta with popularity. 20 different players directly vote to force a character offline for a certain duration (12 or 24 hr). GMs are notified and further inspection goes into effect. If not force offline, then force silence. To enourage players, allow points to be earned (similar to kafra service) from bots who are banned for redeemable rewards.

Another suggestion is to force silence to characters who enter too many responses within a short period of time.

my 2 cents. :sigh:

I could have sworn that that didn't work with the St Pattie's hat (or Spare Card)... In fact, the only type of item drop effects I personally was able to confirm worked with plant cultivation were "when you kill a plant type monster" effects such as Lunakaligo's Green Salad drop... Is it confirmed that Ales drop from the plants spawned by biochemists?

Unfortunately these types of systems would be insanely abused. Guild A doesn't like Person A, so they use it to force them offline or to be silent. The second suggestion, I actually do know people who don't talk in complete sentences they just type out one or two words really fast and constantly scroll my screen just to make a complete sentence.

I can confirm you are wrong =)

Plant cultivated monsters are exactly like game spawned monsters.

You can get 100's of Ales per hour with it. I will also add its ridiculously boring.. and there are far far far better ways to make money. But, my point remains, you can get a lot of Ales without botting.

BUT - I'm not saying Ymir is bot free. Ymir is/was (haven't logged in for like a month now) gold farmer free.
Prior to my break, I reported close to 40 bots in 2 weeks on Ymir.

These guys have minimal effect on the game though. Its the gold farmers that hurt. You can kick them in the groin. Hard. Simply by editing 1 official file, and adding an additional .dll file to the RO directoy. Why can't Heim do this?

Because he's overworked, too many things for one person to do. I would honestly like people to give him a break :sigh:

I don't know but also it MIGHT...might take permission from kRO, any modification to the client DOES take their permission period no questions asked. I've noted your suggestion and I will talk to Heim this coming week, this past week there were too many fires to put for us to discuss it and I had my own personal software development stuff I was busy with myself. Patience and one thing at a time. Being hasty about it won't get it done right trust me.

All I said was that they should moniter the people with the large amounts of ales and where they come from. This does affect gameplay as the woe'ing guilds use them like mad. And to say there is a better source of money...its 100k per ale, the woe'ing guilds spend hundreds of millions if not billions a week on these ales. Even the speed potions when they were 100k each wouldn't net you that sort of money.

Inu - I know I give Heim alot of crap in my posts. Tell him I'm sorry. I really don't like doing it, but just as he is frustrated with things not working right and whatnot, we as players are also frustrated. Alot of issues, just like in a personal relationship, derive from a lack of communication. If gravity/heim tells us, how, or why something can't be reasonably done then it would open up alot more trust between the player base and the company. I'm not suggesting a full disclosure, but more communication.

I asked a question a while ago in another thread, "is there anything we as players can do to push for kRO to give us updates and freedom to change iRO just as jRO has freedom to" and it went unanswered. That is a type of question that matters and should be answered. Maybe gravity should hire another community/forum manager to help with these communication type of issues. Granted, I think more staff period would help, but then again, we don't know the full inner workings of iRO so that's entirely an opinion based on player observation.
