I made a new character on the VIP server and when I tried to go to the Eden group for the first time I was sent to this place with cats and... well it says that I don't have enough points to leave and, being the idiot I am, I had already made that area my save point so I can't leave. Is there any way to leave other than slowly gaining points over the next few weeks?

I don't get how you got sent to the Cat Hand agents when you went inside of the Eden HQ. Afaik you have to pay 50k zeny to gain access to the new world and then on the right side of that map you talk to a small cat who brings you to the portal. After that you should be in the New World Basecamp but you can still return home if you talk to the guard (not the morroc messenger) and once you are back on the morroc map you can talk to the guards at the west or north entrance to go back to a town.

It's possible that someone had a warp portal to the New World open at the spawn point in the Eden HQ.

That happened to me on one of my characters with no money and gear. Someone gave me a bwing as I hadn't saved. You could try to get someone to warp portal you back to Prontera or something.

On the south side of the giant shiny disco ball of doom in the center of camp, there's a guard who offers to take you back to the field east of Morroc.
