I'm thinking of building a RG half tank half soloing. Anyone can help me to decide which gear should I choose among the following items:
- Chick Hat? (I don't have money for RWH now)
- Brocca or Imperial Spear?
- Val's shield or Imperial Shield? Card suggestion?
- Slotted accessories with 2 Kafra Blossom Cards or 2 Vesper Core 02?

All inputs are appreciated. Thanks.

Question, how do you intend to level?
RGs generally skill spam so a chick hat won't benefit you in the least.
I like garruda helm a lot. AK helm is currently highest def helm and you get both demihuman/boss reduction.

For spear, I'd choose Imperial. Renewal monster don't really have the greatest def.
Mdef on the other hand (another story for another thread). I also don't think i could
resist turning a brocca into a pile bunker.

Shields you'll want both eventually. Yuo can never have too many shields.
I prefer Sacred Mission because it's indestructible and I can earth drive with it.
For a card Hodremelin is the dream for a general use shield.

Kafra blossom or cores. Both are useful. Use one to tank and the other for soloing.
But look into BG items. Glorious ring /medal of honor is nice.

Thanks for the reply. Probably I will be using Overbrand and Reflected Damage to grind. Btw what the best headgear for RG, if money is no object? Is it +9 RWH? And between Vesper Core and Kafra Blossom which would benefit me more, both power-wise and money-wise?

Btw which card is the best for weapon? I don't know any except for Archer Skel Card.

Rideword hat and hunter fly cards are best for majority classes.

Hunter Fly Cards are best if you can stack them.
Most RQ's will pick Archer Skeleton Card. Having this card in it will also protect the value of your
spear should yuu choose to resale it.

RG's don't benefit from them as much as other classes.
A RG would constantly have to switch weapons to be in either dps mode or heal mode
but you aren't even guaranteed to get healed.

It's way faster to switch to a moonie dagger and let a monster poke at you while you have
reflect up to get SP back and heal up by spamming shield spell 3.

I keep a hunter fly in my hunting spear regardless, 1 card still saves money on potions. However this is only because there isn't any other card that will make me kill any faster. I have noticed playing my sura how a 2x really does proc more lol

I dont get Spear Quicken for my RG, so I think Hunterfly card will not do as much since I have low ASPD, only 170 with Berserk and 2-hand spear, and lower with 1-hand spear + shield.

I think you got cards mixed up, hunter fly is the one that has a certain chance to recover your hp based on the damage you deal.

I know it. But my weapon has 1 slot, and with that slow ASPD, 1 hunter fly card will not benefit me much. It only work well if I can stack 3 or 4 of them on 1 weapon.

But ASPD doesn't increase damage @_@ I mean I hope you aren't planning on ctrl clicking your whole character's life.
Also keep in mind for example sura who use carga which uses 2 slots, there aren't many high atk weapons with many slots especially in this case spears.

I know what you mean, but low ASPD-> low DPS -> low healing, right? Btw if I level using Overbrand, would Earth deleter card help?

Overbrand doesn't factor ASPD as far as DPS is concerned. It might have some factor in the animation but with the 1 second ish after cast delay it doesn't matter.
