Whenever I run the patch it says this, can someone please help?

No, it says "failed to write" or "failed to unpack".
Due to permissions restrictions in Windows Vista/7, you must take additional steps in order to make windows let the patcher run.
The simplest way is:
Rightclick the ragnarok patcher (or valkyrie patcher if playing the free server) -> Properties -> check the "Run as administrator" box.
There are numerous other threads with detailed instructions, background information, and other methods of making RO patch on Vista and later operating systems.
