Unfortunately in my experience it seems to be the bigger names on the forums that have the most problems anytime action is taken against them. It seems to be fine when we have to edit or delete other people's posts, but when it's one of theirs all hell breaks loose and it suddenly becomes us with a personal vendetta against them.

It's not an easy job, let me tell you. All of us seem to have different ways and ideas of trying to manage things. =/

I'm not talking about over reacting to a deserved censorship. Which is why I went ahead and added in that bit about being heavy handed and well-meaning.

And the CMs have been alerted and I'm sure they know what I'm personally referring to.

Sometimes it isn't about hurt feelings, sometimes there really are boundaries that get crossed.

So hai, again..

I was gone on thursday/friday.. and before i was gone, i replied to Xellie's thread, and said thread got deleted. Can anyone tell me why that thread got deleted including my post? Surely if you thought that the Original Post was offensive in some way (which i think is really odd, since there are far worse things on this forum that stay on the forum) surely you could have kept the thread alive by editting what was offensive and stating a reason why it was offensive instead of deleting a whole thread?!

Can we have said thread back with the replies? Thank you.

Could the person PM me as for the reasoning why, because its just getting lame beyond words.

I didn't create a new thread, i posted about the forum moderating question in a thread made by me previously. And its happening again. I am not trying to stir up more issues. Im trying to get an answer from moderators like yourself why posts are being editted. I didn't know who has deleted my posts as i cant see them. So what's the problem of me replying to my own thread again? For crying out loud, should I have pmed every moderator/administrator to ask who deleted my replies and why?

I am not the only one with this issue. I would love to know what exactly was the problem with my response to Xellie's thread the other day. And what exactly the problem was with:

This image: http://memegenerator...970/9186004.jpg

That i posted in a response to someone calling the original poster of the happy birthday Xellie thread an asskisser. I see you have made the 'happy birthday' post to xellie visable again without the image. And thats cool, thanks for that.. But why was it deleted completely before? I mean, if you look in this thread yourself, you see worse things than the image i posted together with my question why someone would be an arsekisser if they wished someone a happy birthday.

I've been an administrator and moderator of several forums before, and the biggest amount of people that i have moderated was over 10k of active people. And I never deleted posts of people that weren't anything flamatory. And to be honest, neither Xellie's thread about issues with RO things, nor my response to that thread were anything flamatory. It would be nice to let people know why their posts get deleted completely.

The image that was posted that you quoted was the flamatory portion of it, my guess is the text was over looked above the quote but I don't know. I can't speak for Xellie's past topics because what happened last week wasn't my doing I was sick in the hospital and I only heard about it after it was over. I am also not going to speak for other moderators besides myself. If you have a problem with the moderators I suggest you make a inquiry to Oda about it.

This is degenerating into exactly why stuff gets locked/moderated/deleted.

If a thread doesn't have anything but flamming, name calling or a general "bad attitude" it isn't contributing to the forum. I know that sounds very heavy handed, and it is, but it is also the only thing that keeps this a place where new users won't be scared off by the angry kids (which is actually a small % of the forumites).

I am not the only one with this issue.

I don't really see anyone else complaining about it...

This image: http://memegenerator...970/9186004.jpg

Is inflammatory, or, at the least, not very nice, and doesn't belong in a happy birthday thread of all things.

I've been an administrator and moderator [stuff] and I never deleted posts of people that weren't anything flamatory.

Well there you go.

I've been part of a LOT of forums and I never understand why people throw fits when stuff happens to them when they clearly broke the rules.

I'm going to play devil's advocate here and say that people sure were complaining about it last week!

About my thread, yes/no/annoyed/maybe. I certainly raised the issues in the wrong tone, but then I guess, two things came of it, the CMs I hope have read it (if not, please do) and secondly knowing that I'm not alone on the issues that I had with the game.

Did it deserve to be removed? yes/no/maybe. It would be nice if the mods would talk to the posters more about what ways to raise which issues with the game are acceptable. But it's not unreasonable that it was removed until you know what happened next.

What was unreasonable is that the mods just clearly didn't communicate with eachother making it seem ok for a day on the users part, then removing it.... but not only did they remove it, they CLEARLY refused to speak to the poster in question, they REFUSED to answer the communities questions on why a topic that raised so much community interest was removed. Instead they punished the person for asking. I fail to have seen the problem with simply answering the first thread that popped up on the topic.

The removal of posting rights (not putting them on moderation.... and even then...) without SPEAKING to the user in question is very heavy handed. Mods who think that threads or thread material is personally aimed at other mods and using this as a vendetta to punish the afformentioned poster is also clearly wrong. I know these are not staff members, but on a forum for a game company which takes a fair amount of money from my pocket, I'd expect some kind of professionalism.

tl;dr: Mods need to communicate better, with eachother and the community, imo.

Are you listening now?! blahblahblah snail on a skateboard

asdfps: For what it's worth I don't really want nor need people fighting my corner, or blowing this issue up

I wasn't around for said incident so I can't speak to what or why things were done the way they were done, but it does seem to me hearing from both sides that a communication break down did occur. I'm not condoning either side's actions, I just think things could have been handled a bit better so there wasn't a firestorm from what I'm told.

I don't think the issue regarding last week should be better anyone except me and Oda right now anyway.

The thread was borderline, we all know that.

You can see who edits the post if it's one of us. The issue with editing posts is that people tend to just edit them back to what they said originally, so it doesn't tend to work very well.

There's logs of what we do, it's not like we're running around unchecked. Deleted posts are not truly deleted, they're just hidden from view... We can still see them. The most common times something's locked or deleted is when someone else has reported it so it's not just us.

In the end, though, it comes down to the community learning how to communicate what they have to say in a way that doesn't involve swearing, flaming, slander, etc. which seems to be rather difficult for the majority of the people on the forums (or in-game, for that matter).

If you have a problem with something we've done, tell Oda about it.

It's because most of us outspoken people will stick up for ourselves.
