Had 800 HD ores boxed up & ready to dive into upgrade hell with and it goes +10 on the first ore.
As you can see I was a bit unsettled that the past few weeks of hoarding ores was for naught.

^What this wise person said... it is much cheaper, both zeny and KP, to just use enriched ores to +9, then switch to HD ores, and if upgrade fails, use enriched for +9 again, then repeat until item is +10...

anyone with a brain knows not to open all boxes at once, as you can open the boxes once you are in the diaglogue as well so you don't use an excessive amount more than what you need to.

Because enriched is more expensive, and I already had a decent stockpile of HD before that event even started.

That's the only reason. Enriched only cost 5 kp more than HD's and only desperate people buy it off the overchargers, just open a chat and wait patiently there's always someone trying to sell you 50 cheap enriched boxes . I know, pay zeny 4 those who pay2win but what can we do~

Not to mention that you get 5 Enriched vs 10 HD and still 5 kp more expensive. You are actually spending 30 kp per Enriched Ore and only 10 kp per HD ore.

Beats me ('_'). I blew my hundreds of milions of zeny to fill out the pockets of OCA vendors.
I need that 6m I can get from one box to sustain my daily PvP supply needs... zeny please... or i'll buy moar heimdollars and destroy the economy. @_@

Enriched is more expensive per ore (21 KP > 10 KP).

Enriched is less expensive per +8/+9/+10 item (11/40/313 attempts < 51/260/2151 attempts).

Chances from +9 > +10 are the same for HD and Enrich so comparing those for this upgrade is useless i think.
It can be much cheaper for +7>+9 but +10 is different league.

There is a 90% chance of +9 -> +8, so the costs at the lower levels must be considered as well.
