It could go like this:
5 Con gives 1 short/long range defense. That way, with 500 Con, someone could have 100 extra short/long range defense: not too much but better than nothing.
With this, the classes with low defense could stand a little more against the ranged classes. Like someone said, dont take things from the game, add new things to balance it.

so, con could give as u said 1 def for 5 con, 0.01 resist all for 1 con, so, with 1000 con it would give 10% resist and 200 def, and prots could do something in pvp^^

1 con give 0.5 defense: this way 500 con would give 250 defense, that if we think about it, isnt that big amount. If is too much, then make it 1 con = 0.2 defense as i said before. And get 1% or 2% to all resistances per 100 con could be a good idea.

Yes, that could be too, melees have too low natural resistances and dont rise much because their items dont have int. Maybe it could be:

wow this is an amazin idea i luv it! i always been waitin for something to replace the waste of a modifier like hp rec lol.

with that way even some classes who have low Def can reach the 2.6k DEF if you calc

lol i dont think so, that means that you would have to have around3k+ CON b/c lets face it most characeters armor does not give that much defense to begin with.Would be cool and sounds interesting to me

That way you will experience a lack of HP. So what i guess is this:
Current CON/HP of classes will get recalculated to HP
CON will be added to your Current Defense
That way you do not lose HP but u get your def topped up
