would you start with the base item at +7 or at +9 and why.

Because you cannot start using the HD and Enriched Hammer upgraders unless the equipment is already at +7.

Im sure every one who has ever used hd is aware of that basic fact. Not sure why you are mentioning it now though or what relevance does it have to the question at hand. may be is should ad a "from" to the question so that you actually read the topic content?

Well I don't exactly understand your question in the first place. What are you specifically trying to ask?

In that case, I'd rather go with a +7 if I'm aiming for a +10 at the cheapest cost. For a higher chance though, I'd start with a +9 if I'm not worried about costs. Every individual is going to see this differently though.

but.... if your luck suks trying to get that +9 back from a +8 using enriched hammer you will still end up going through many many enriched ores. enriched hammer does down grade from fail right.

to attempt a +10 upgrade you need an item at +9.

well the general consensus is that you would attempt it with a HD ore for not wanting to destroy the item on failure. Given the success of HD ore and a good chance that you are gonna be using lots n lots of it making it go from +9 through +3 in the process of getting a +10, would it not be more cost effective to start at +7 and the hd ore?.

But seeing HR Devil's point id assume its more of getting lucky at the first of sorts.

Odds are you are going to use about on avg. about 10 HD ores from +9 to +10 and hundreds of hundreds of Enrich ores to get to +9 to attempt at +10.
