Protector:
Keys to building a tank: You are a Meat Shield in every sense
Tanks are hard to level especially Solo, Lousy Farming, Long times on questing (unless have friends)
They can get expensive very quick (if you plan on doing Raids)
SvS/TB/FOC/Ion- (you are a distraction) you won't likely gain many points, helping is a good thing!
Once you hit higher levels you will be sought out for Raids on a daily basis
(this helps gaining lant through selling of items or gearing new characters.
Everyone is partial to build and stats will vary
Personally i suggest Max the following as a defender
Posted Image Taunt
Posted Image Survival Instinct
Posted Image Taunting Cry
Posted Image Skin of Stone
Max the following as a Protector:
Posted Image Low Blow
Posted Image Shield Mastery
Posted Image Spiritual Intensification
Posted Image Aegis of Protection
Posted Image Shield Fortress

Low Blow:
Works as a second to Taunting Cry

DNA:
Given the fact that you can now buy 25 additional DNA points or buy 20 and gain the other 5 via quest, max all taunt dna's, anything with Block %, Block Rate and any Defense increasing skills
If you can get all your DNA pts and the additional 25 max the following
Defender/Protector:
Posted Image Long Range Taunt
Posted Image Strengthened Survival Instinct
Posted Image Strengthened Skin of Stone
Posted Image Strengthened Shield Mastery
Posted Image Strengthened Shield Fortress

I have not listed Healing Skills or DNA at the moment, provided you have a Good Radiant you won't need them yet.

Text in Red Denotes Season 1 items. Most of which are hard to find.

The following do not take into account of Field of Contention aka FOC or Theme Battle Compensation Items

ARMORS:
Level 65 Seamless Polar (6 piece set)
Level 66 Seamless Polar (6 piece) Note if you can get 4 out of the 6 pieces you still get set bonus.
Level 67 Ruinhorn's Fierce (5 piece set) Gloves, Upper, Lower, Boots and Gloves
Level 68 Sea Protector (3 piece set) Helm, Upper, Lower
Level 70 Glorious (6 piece set)
Level 72 Glorious (6 piece set)
Level 75 Conqueror (6 piece set)
Level 79 Sacred CON Pattern (6 piece set)

Accessories:
Level 55 Secret Lab M-C set (6 piece set)
Level 65 Determined Willingness Bracelets (This is a personal choice if you can get it to at least +20 you equal the set bonus from M-C Set You still retain 4/6 Set bonus as well
Level 66 Essence of Ion Earrings (you cannot Reinforce them they have a base 2% block Rate (add Con Xeons)
Level 68 Navy Steel (You can skip this belt and wait for next belt)
Level 70 Iron Wall Belt
Level 71 Hopeful Ring (These are rare)

Charms:
Level 70 Alosa
Level 79 Torn Teddy

Weapons:
Level 65 Kushephoon Sword
Level 66 Season 1 Kushephoon Sword (These can be found if you ask around)
Level 69 Season 1 Kalions Sword (i can say there are only a few known on server)
Level 70 Kalions Sword
Level 75 Sword of Soul
Reposing
Level 79 Uncursed Dead Man's Sword
Shields:
Level 65 Rounderoot Egis
Level 66 Rounderoot Egis
Level 69 Doom Cheras Heart (Season 1 item and i wouldn't waste time on it)
Level 71 Wand of Bright Oceans
Level 75 Shield of Reposing
Level 79 Uncursed Dead Man's Shield

Enchanting:
Con/HP all they way
You can use a Short Range Defense Power Double Down to help soften Bosses
Add enchants as you see fit.
You might find you want more resistance so do so as you see fit.

Keep in Mind these items do not include the new level 85 items

For the sake of argument people will vary on their builds as to which stats they feel are more important
These stats are Con/Hp, Block %, Block Rate in no particular order.

You will need to plan for HP and MP as well. No one wants a Squishy tank who runs out of MP, same can be said for Radiant s.

Me personally i am Block% first, Block Rate second and Con/HP-MP last (If you can't hit me i don't bleed)

I am personally using the following items or are working on getting the ones i don't have yet.

Season 1 Seamless Polar Full Set
upper, lower, helm, boots, gloves, shoulders
S1 Rounderoot Shield
S1 Kush

Jewelry
S1 Essence of Ion Earrings (the 2% block each is too good to pass up)
S2 Determined Willingness Bracelets (+15 atm loaded with S1 Con/HP ions)
S2 M-C Belt, Necklace and Rings
S2 Iron Wall Belt
S2 FireDragon Molar Necklace

S2 Hopeful Rings

Level 75 Shield of Soul Reposing
Level 75 Sword of Soul Reposing

Just some quick things, you have 70 glori listed twice the s2 set is level 72.

The only difference between bisket and dc belts is 1 hp on reinf and like 2 more higher con base, for some that doesnt justify the pain carus is.

Teddy is more important than alosa cause of the mp regen for taunts.

Use carus magic earrings if you cant get s1 (3 con and mp recovery).

FireDragon Molar is more hps than Nach (2 con=hps vs 2str/con).

Physical crit down is more useful than SRDD for bosses (most have 33% physical crit).

RH breathings are better than s1 Ion (the mp overtakes the double compounding of con and they are easier to get)

If you are still using the SL sets a 4/8 mix of M-C and ID(earrings and rings) gives the most hps and a nice chunk of Mnd for MP Rec.

Once you get to carus grade armor or s1 drop survival instinct to 1 and skin of stone to 6. Once you get past 3k def its crits and skills that do more damage to you, not the normal hits.

Capped resists vs 15% resists on all raids but LW (including ET) means you get hit roughly half the time by the spells, the damage is the same.

I fixed the Lvl of Glorious (thanks for pointing that out)
You are right RH breathing is nice however there is that same argument of HP regeneration from Con instead of HP. Maybe a balance of both?
Critical down (Again thx for input)
As noted some people will find that they want that extra 1 pt per reinforcement, it equals a difference of 30 Con when both are +30 = 150 hp w/ 30 hp regen
I mentioned Alosa because until you hit level 79 people are less likely to take you into a raid (Been there too many times)
As far as skin and other skills, you can pull points from here and there and put in other places, however i don't find any of those skill necessary unless your doing self heals or when you cap out and need the extra points in Shield Fortress.
It's a starter guide all the same So ty.

I can max points in all battlefields fairly quickly as Protector.
