So I got to lv 42 as a specialist, and am having some fun with f7 mode, but it seems like I can't get past stage 40 on my own. Seems like I don't have any useful skills and I can't even kill the bonus bombers quickly. Is there any way a specialst can solo f7?

Specialist is one of the worst classes for F7ing. Ideally, soloing F7 is very bad. Not only do you lose more fatigue points solo--10 solo, compared to 5 in a four-man party--the bombs are noticeably more difficult to kill on top of keeping with towers. My only advice is to avoid soloing F7 like the plague.

well that suits me. Going with a party is definately easier for my poor specialist.

Some tips for the bombs: don't use your usual combos but instead use your fastest multi-hit skills. This means Shootdown and Gatling and whatever fillers you can get in, but with those two as the main.

yeah, for bombs I usually do a pattern of gattling > shootdown, > HD grenades > Shootdown > repeat and they go down fairly fast. If I have Vulcan cannon I'll also stick that down along the path for extra hits.
About Caused bomber. How exactly does it affect the monsters in F7? Does it make any kind of difference?
After some more experience with F7, I find that while I'm not very good at controlling monsters, I can kill the bombs faster than most other classes.

Specialists (grenadiers) do have at least one move to use, Caused Bomber, to decrease max HP of the mobs. Don't just say nothing for them. ):
It doesn't decrease their max HP.
The Curse status effect reduces base stats, and for monsters, it seem to reduce their defence (unconfirmed).
But their max HP is unaffected.

That's why I removed it from my Gren when leveling for F7--I noticed nothing being changed.
