Reading SpellBook actually takes SP now.

Hey all just wanted to let everyone know that Reading Spellbook now takes the sp cost of the spell you Read.

For Example Level 5 Comet takes 800 SP even when used via Read/Release. SP is taken when spell is "Read" not when released (other than the 3sp needed for it).

I really hate this change as it now takes around 20% of my SP to use this damn spell now. Stupid 5min reduction being reduced to 3min is stupid and useless. Was a waste of time to change it for something that minor.

But nowhere did it say it was going to take the spells actual sp cost now.

I really hate how this mainly just hurts Comet with it's massive SP cost. Even TV only has a 240sp cost and since it's single target triggers Soul Siphon unlike Comet. All other spells take even less sp. :thumb:

Yes... it takes a lot of SP...

I usually burn around 500 blues per WoE lol

I'd rather sp be the factor to reuse than high cooldown.

The Problem is it has BOTH now.


Pre Balance

5 Min Cool Down
Use via Read/Release just took really no sp
No Delay if just using with Read/Release.

POST Balance

3 Min Cool Down
Using it via Read/Release takes +800sp


II think they also reduced the AoE on this as well. So Balance = Fail on this as 1 Good thing followed by 3 Bad just does not cut it.

Except you can bypass the cooldown entirely by using release.

Well... Comet is quite unique and sometimes it won't allow you to bypass it's cooldown... but in most cases yup...

Ofc Read/Release bypasses the cooldown. I never implied that it didn't to my knowledge.

The major problem I have with Comet now is it's MASSIVE SP cost.

Pre Balance using it via R/R did not incur the sp cost of it. Now it does.

Unfortunately this now takes just under 20% of my max sp with 100 base Int on my level 127 WL. Just drains sp so fast it's not funny.

It may be worth it with Hard casting since you can AMP it. But without the ability to amp it it kind of sucks.

Maybe try getting Increase SP Recov 10? It also helps with SP recovery from items. I totally ditched all my useless bolt spells and got this skill coz of this change.

Well my build does have level 5 of that already due to Soul Drain and Safety Wall. Not sure if I want to waste 5 more points in it though.

I also get FireWall as that is STILL a great thing to use.

Also I try never to use sp items on Mage classes when just leveling. They really should have no need for this.

I always have Energy Coat with Summon balls on my Tetra Vortex Warlock and I run onto SP issues sometimes when I get mobbed by 5-6 enemies. Fire Wall is great and all but Quagmire/Safety Wall is a better combo imo.
