So I've recently logged on from a 4 month break for the sheer fact of not having access to a computer. I know why some ppl are upset for the fact that the updates are in place for the balance patch and not all players like it. But what i dont understand is where all the ppl on valk came from? Did the ppl from ymir all switch? i loggede on and only 700 ppl on wednesday (only for WoE i assume) and not even 550 thursday. and almost 3k for valk and 900 for ygg. I', not complainging just wondering what happened? is it worth it to start everything over and go to valk just to have more players to hang with? (i guess for more friends )

I play both servers, valk obviously w/bots still around, I rarely logon my Ymir acct and indeed they are lesser ppl from what I notice since event WoEs started last year.

It's because Ymir bots have also been getting perma-banned according to their new policy on botting. Valkyrie botters can just make a new account and continue farming, but Ymir botters must pay the VIP for the account and risk getting banned again.
This dip in population happened around the same time they stopped handing back accounts after zeny/item wipes.

Holidays + event woes are the reason imo.

^ + new school semesters starting. I personally hadn't been on the last entire month because of the holidays, and many of those event woes just didn't interest me. Population should pick back up in a few weeks. Some school are still on break for like another week or 2 lol.

Ok this is silly, all the populations are way down, and the excuse was people in school were doing finals, then people were traveling for holidays, now the excuse is school is starting back up. What's the excuse for next month btw? The populations have been plummeting for over 4 months now.

There was one large drop when the GMs did a massive bot sweep. I haven't really noticed any major changes since, I don't know what all this doomsday for Ragnarok stuff is about.

We in Yggdrasil are getting invaded by Valk Server people as well thinking they can own us with "experience" then they get their butts kicked in WoE/PvP and cry more.

although the number of logged in players are high, the real number of active players are very very low. the majority of the population are bots (valk), vends, and afk'rs.

also unique individuals are also rare, same people all day using different characters.

- Cheap Korean labour creating content on a not-so-often basis.
- Barely any customer support or service management.
- Cheap outdated servers, software and network infrastructure.

Ragnarok Online is very cheap to maintain. Only a handful of people paying is enough to keep them afloat.

i was playing a bit in valk yesterday.

To my surprise valk server are so great. they are so futuristic. Large portion of robotic creature there compared to human race, robots, everywhere.
it was like a fiction science movie.

In the time people have been crying "ragnarok is dying" multiple MMO's have been released, risen and fallen off the radar and been shut down. The current population flux happens every year.
