@iyona, all those issues can be linked to login server failure. the server lost track of who was online, so defaulting to putting all in offline status, and if all guildies are offline, the guild "chat room" becomes inactive. memory released and there was no where for your messages to be distributed to.
similar issues with party invitations, private messaging, routes for these signals cant be made if there's no login server to link the clients to ips. :/ it can all stem from a single issue.

edit: also, without login server, listening port is no longer registering certain data from your client :/

Yay servers down during double exp sucky

We disabled character select and the "communication" server before 7pm to try and restart them. It didn't work to establish proper connectivity, at that point we blocked all traffic and started doing a full restart.

Unfortunately we have to cancel WoE, which is truly unfortunate. We will have to see what caused this, and what can mitigate it in the future and what we can do to make it up to those that lost about 90 minutes of play time during a prime Saturday night.

One querry , the server was down 6 minutes into the second hour, and all the rest of my guild gave up waiting.... is woe not being cancelled?

ymir servers are down again. when trying to change woe realms, disconnected. unable to log in. any castles that break should be reverted back to pre-woe status and same with the guild who kept it.

I've played this game for years and have yet to find a moment where iRO completely lost control of the situation. Nor do I recall ever having consistent connection issues. Most of the time I'd go weeks or months at a time never having to endure such a negative experience. It's unfortunate but most people only remember the bad experiences and fail to notice all the good ones. It's understandable considering people play video games to escape from something and when that something isn't there, they lose control. Same as smoking. Same as...

Addiction.

My advice is to take this time to do something productive and remember that it's just a game. It should be enjoyed! If you're not enjoying yourself you should find something else that will.

Imo, exp events cant compensate for a PVP Event. I logged on at before 7 to kill people, not monsters.
