Not to mention diablos boot give a large defense bonus if upgraded, sure nyd immune is a better garment but diablos isnt a bad garment ether.
Personal preference really. Hp or Sp?

So I have noticed that I get more HP by using +9 Diab. Boots and Diab Mant (even without mant) over Variants. It's not by much, but it's still more. How is this possible? Variants are supposed to give 20% more, while firelock boots give 10%.
There is a threshold you do pass over from when you first become 3rd class using variants over +9 Sup Diab Boots (depending on your class of course).
I personally prefer the +9 Sup Diab Boots myself unless I'm using Sleips. But for the lower level 3rd classes, variants do give more HP.

actually Diab boots even without the manteau still better for low HP and high SP classes like lock/genetic while variant are good for sura/RK/RG i prefer my +9 diab boot with firelock since i got more HP and +2 str over 10%SP (4.2k SP without Variants)20% SP from Variants is 1 simple reason why it is far more superior... The only reason youll get Diab Boots is to get the HP bonus you get for equipping it and a Diab Mant.

Edit: The firelock gives a little bit of str too.

Wow, unnecessary. No need to disparage me for asking a question.http://db.irowiki.org/db/item-info/2433/
Gotta love noobs.
Thank you all for the answers. I overlooked the 10hp per base level when I searched the boots.

Though using variants frees up your slot for a nyd garb which is (on it's own at least) arguably better than diab mant.
It all comes down to personal choice, though Diabolus set is more attractive to low HP (especially warlocks and baby-thirds) classes than to say a swordie-class third. Variants also tend to be cheaper to get too.
but yeah, there's really only a 4% difference with that set up -before- the level*10 bonus HP and unless you're character has over 40k max HP -before- you put the shoes on variants will give less (at max level anyway).

Upgraded or not...
They should give it an upgrade..
This Renewal crap about defense..
They should change variants to give +10 def every 2 upgrades different from individual upgrade bonus..

Fixed for more attractive boosts. They should change variants to give +2 [b]MDEF[b] every upgrade different from individual upgrade bonus...
And no reduction of the HP/SP boost bonus.

it really comes down to if you need a slotted shoe,Swordman, Merchant, Thief Class and u need Maximum SP + 2 * Job Level then get Valk shoes, otherwise diablos boots are just boss
Amon Ra Card
Cat O' Nine Tails Card
Dark Lord Card
Eddga Card
Fallen Bishop Hibram Card
Lady Tanee Card
even +10% more exp
card combos
Variants arnt shoes that one shoe fits all, They are good but ultimately they are flawed
"Shoes that seem to be wrong somewhere. The intention of the maker to perfect the shoes can be seen but it seems to be a failure."
Diablo boots is the shoe that fits all
"A mysterious boots that automatically adjusts its size as the wearer's size. It seems alive."
