Instead of having the buff bars or icons next to the name bar, why not have a list of vertical icons starting from the top right showing the buffs you have and also the amount of time.
The icons can either be stacked on top of of another or from right to left. The amount of time left can be below in mins and second which is much more useful than just seconds.

See that little "+" next to your lvl? click it and move your status bar off the bottom.
