I was a doofus and missed out on getting my costume cake hat (I didn't realise it was a costume. I thought it was just another headgear. Knowing it's a costume now makes me realize I could be wearing it over the top of my other dropping headgears for mad fun.)

Is the costume itself tradeable? I really don't want to have to upgrade the stupid thing. I've had more than enough of upgrading things this event and if I know I can save up and buy it at a later date, that'd be a big relief.

No. But if someone has a +8 Cake hat, they can trade that to you instead and you can go to the quest NPC and get the costume version.

I just went and made myself a +7 cake hat, only to break it on mighty hammer. I guess he thought it would be funny to downgrade it once and then pass it from +6 to +3 repeatedly 100 times.

t(-_-t) hmph well it's not like I need this hat anyway. I still have my +9 christmas tree hat for all the candy and sweets I could ever want.

+60 SP as a costume is very valuable though. :V

When I was really pissed after breaking 10 cake hats, I used head certs then fed HD Elus.
Curse those upgrade events.

Valkyrie. I've given up for now. Even if I could get a +8, I don't really have the money to buy it. They're about 13m? Unless someone actually decides to buy a kafra blossom card, I'll have to save up and I am not buying any more kafra items.
